Being able to go in to a cantina lets say theed. you can talk to the bartender and apply for a job there.

Each cantina haveing a set number of openings for dance and music.

The systems can track the number of people that watch or listen to youas it does with the helper droid heal 10 quest they put in.

At the end of the night you can again talk to the bartender to collect your check and if you go afk for more than 10 min's with out ending the job you get fired and loose your wadges, should cut down on afk people and get entainers more proactiveat getting players in to the cantina.

As the number of people you've entertained increases your fame does as well which willlet you to get higher paying jobs in better cantina's.

Oh count the npc's that watch as well they have been free loading for far to long hehe.

Just a thought.

Bad idea, this is just as bad as that person said we should get interest. It will just be a bunch of people who leave their macros on

or when buffs go away, people can just do basic dance and come back in 6 hours.. thats how the system is explotive.

Good idea but very easy to exploit and won't make it into the game

As much as I don't want to agree, Blamj has a point. It seems like most ideas that we come up with, while all potentially great entertainer content, one must factor in the afk issue. Almost all ideas that aren't directly related to ending afk, will always be abused by those who choose to afk.

I mean, think about it. That buffbot who is on 23/7 in Coronet, what do you want to bet she gets about 200 times the watchers I get on any given day, thereby increasing her already ludicrous "paycheck" and possible fame rating. The afk thing has to be taken out before we can even begin to think about asking for content like this. For the reality is, the buffbot afker will *always* beat us, they will *always* do better than we do. If there were a fame list, the top 20 on any given server would be 90% buffbot.

But, don't think that I'm poo poo'ing your idea. It's a *good* idea. And, I would love to see something like that eventually. However, we gotta get rid of the afk first. That's why in so many posts of mine in the past that I have said the afk and buffbots are gamebreaking. We can't even ask for content like this until they're absolutely, unequivocally, completely gone.

so no paycheck for the buff bot. no fame for the buff bot. no love for the buff bot. poor buff bot =P

I like the idea, but only way I can see it working effectively for us and not against us, would be if they finally took away the option of turning the blaster AFK pop up tag off.
That way when the AFK tag pops up it automatically gets you fired by the bartender and also /dumps all the macros. This way it would kill two birds with one stone (or however the saying goes) by giving us steady income and getting rid of zombies.
Would be funny if the barteded used a "You fired, you lazy zombie" line in /say for everyone to see.

The easiest way to fix the across the game AFK issues :

The game must internally know whether you are AFK or not regardless of whether or not you have the tag active (as it does give you the tag option)

Change the internal AFK code that when you stop recieving input for 10 minutes (or whatever the AFKtimer is, let's assume 10 mins) you immediately /dump (for macros)and /sit (prevents any xp gain)when you are internally flagged as AFK. Sobasically whether or not your AFK tag is active, if you don't givethe systemany keyboard/mouse input your character just sits there doing nothing after 10 minutes.

And when you come back you can/stand yourselfand go back to whatever you were doing.

This is of course, assuming they can 1) play with the AFK code and 2) they are ready to make the across the board (all profession) andall capacity (like even/follow for example)committment to ending longer then 10 minute intervalsAFK play.

Either of these may be impossible or un-feasable, I'm not saying it should be done, just how I would do it, if I was part of the development team and had complete control over the system, LOL.

doesn't help, it's so easy to prevent yourself from AFk. You will get a bunch of people who are AFK for several hours and yet don't go "AFK"

Unfortunately even using keyboard/mouse input is not an adequate way to verify whether or not someone is AFK. I had a friend once who built a little Lego mechnical mouse button pusher to keep his toon online (different game). He just set the mouse in a particular spot and had a timed "finger" push down every so often. You could even leave something leaning on the mousebutton or a particular key to keep it pressed down and provide constant repetitive input while still AFK. This is all without even resorting to unauthorized "3rd party software". This kind of thing might be more easy to detect by noticing the repetitive user input over time, but I don't know if they have anything in place to detect this sort of thing.

From SOE's point of view this hardware solution is equivalent to 3rd party software. Like for example it wouldn't help you to write a speed hack program yourself to make it a 2nd party program - you'd still get banned.

The point is not how one 'plays' unattended over extended periods, but unattended gameplay per se. And as soon as SOE either step down from the silly idea that unattended gameplay is ok if the internal macro system is used, or remove the ability to AFK with in-game tools, it'll be way easier to actually enforce the TOS since everyone playing AFK is by definition exploiting, will be /reported by other players if AFKing in public, and is subject to be warned/banned by CSRs.

Edit: Spelling and grammar aren't on my side today.

I might be the only Jedi to hold this opinion, but I'm getting excited about the NGE. So as we all wait for the skill trees to be released, this is what I would love to see.

Profession progression: All profession will havewhat we have now as the Jedi progression (i.e. Initiate, Padawan, Knight, Guardian, Master). This progression is determines the combat level or conversely the CL determines the progression.

Profession Skill Sets: Then similar to Jedi, as players progress they devote their skillpoints into specific skills. All combat professions have the following skill trees:

Melee (Lightsaber for Jedi): This contains both offense & defense skills/mods for melee combat.

Ranged (Powers for Jedi): This contains both offense & defense skills/mods for ranged combat.

Special Abilities:This tree contains the profession specific skills. For Jedi it would be similar totheEnhancer Tree. For

BH it will contain there investigative and capture abilities, etc etc for the other professions.
