The first version of the NGE is on test servers now. The servers are capped to control load for testing reasons. This (as with all circumstances) will change. It may try your patience a bit before you get logged in. Once you're in, play with the tutorial, check out the Entertainer quests in the starter area and enjoy the cantina there.
Red-Dwarf is going to lead us in testing and collecting information for Entertainers in the NGE. You may find the NGE Entertainer FAQ here and some information about testing here.

So far my impressons are "bleh". Nothing new for dancers, quests are "go there, dance there, return" witha bitmore than usual NPC interaction so far. Haven't done muc testing, just the intro and a bit on Tatooine.

Seeing how anyone can now basic dance, but Entertainers are chained to the cantina now, locked out from experiencing combat content or entire planets - like Mustafar's or Kashyyyk's quests - ist depressing. Why do they hate entertainers so much to force us into weak Oola's who are rancor food once they dare to speak up?
Please, someone with a wider vision than the "Entertainers should be quiet and dance in the cantina" should take over and give us mixed combat skills so we can continue to experience the whole game, not just the cantina.
Not to mention that I amseriously mad that even though you can master pilot as an entertainer, the YT2400 is locked out from such characters since it requires heavy ground combat quests. This is simply unfair and should be changed.
All in all, any entertainer that was not the dancer/musician/id CL1 clone before is severly crippled by the NGE.

At the moment I am testing a smuggler on TC2. Stuck on the station because of a bug, I decide to play around a bit. Low and behold I see the basic dance Icon...I decide to give it a shot and presto...I am a dancing smuggler again!!! Flo's and all..
During the Ent forums at the last Fan Fest we did bring up the fact that it would be nice if all professions could at least get out on the dance floor withbasic 1and shake it during cantina nights and such. Did the dev's actually listen to us?
