Thread: how do the missions work?
I don't know if the ones you get from teh noble in the theater changed, but the ones from the mission terminal you now have to dance ten minutes instead of 5. So I tried one out and put myself on basic and did no flourishes. Some guy came up to me and said I looked bored. lol.
It seems like these terminals are just outside a lot of the cantinas, so if the tips aren't rolling in you can quickly grab a mission that will have you dance in your cantina. Of course the payout is horrid though.
Can you possibly search through the terminal and get 2 missions to the same cantina and do both at the same time?
I danced for about 3 minutes trying one... as a master dancer I have a payout of 150 credits for a mission? **edit**?

If you're in Dearic, the entertainer terminal is across the square, in front of the artisan guild house. Why, I can't tell you. It's not a long run, just a strange place to put it. Especially considering that they put the artisan terminal across the square from the artisan guild house instead of at the front door.
Oh well, Talus has always been a bit more challenging than the other newbie planets. *heh*
The horrible thing instead is that they give you 100-200 credits and have to go to another town to do it.
Kinda a sad joke, get survey rather and do artisan missions, much more remunerative ![]()
Master dancer here, very disappointed from those new entertainer missions.

Oy, I suppose I should just stop repeating myself.
Entertainer missions are not new. All that is new is that they're now being advertised.
The payouts are in line with the payout from other missions. That is, all missions were nerfed more or less equally.
If you're a master then I can't imagine that you actually have much of a cash flow problem that the missions will make or break you.
A master dancer/musician does the exact same things to accomplish the mission that a novice entertainer does. There's no reason to scale up for skill-level when skill-level doesn't scale up the difficulty. If anything, higher skill means that you finish faster and so can do more in the same amount of time. Over an hour, a master should complete more missions than a novice. There's your scale for skill.
You don't HAVE to leave town. Just click the refresh button a couple of times and take missions that are in-town.
Compare the time required to do a survey mission or a destroy mission. Count the number of local entertainer missions you can finish in the same amount of time that it takes to do two destroy missions or two survey missions. The entertainer missions should, on average, equal about 70% of the income from those other missions. This is entirely appropriate considering that you don't have any risk at all and if your terminal is outside your cantina then you barely have to move to get new missions. Survey can potentially be a huge time-sink, speaking from experience. That's why it pays more, danger aside.
Sorry, I don't mean to keep coming off as some sort of SOE apologist on the gig missions. I just think that people take them way too seriously, especially when they didn't know about their existence before the terminals arrived. If you need money, then work the system. It's free and you get XP while doing it. If you don't need the money, then why get worked up? It's not as if your social status is somehow dicated by a vending machine.
