Thread: A 'customer' stops in for a chat :)
Hi folks (maybe that should be 'hello ladies' considering the bulk of the readers) I just popped over from the Bio-Eng forum cause i was flicking through the designers responses for the profession and since I know a number of the dancers from Theed (Ahazi) it's interesting to see what the devs have in store for them. Well since it's my first time in here Ihave to say I was surprized to see a guide to erotic dancing at the top of the forum but it instantly cleared up a few puzzlements I've had about dancers and why the majority of them are women. Maybe it's just from the perspective of a guy but it seems to me that women like to be.. how can i put this in a non-nasty way.. i'd say the best word is manipulitive. Only in a non insidious way hence how they seem to like leading the mood of the customers with their dancing.
So what is your main desire to be a dancer? Is just because is probably the only true artform in the game at the moment? Or is it like i suspected and you enjoy leading someones emotional state? And one final thing, have you noticed that dancers tend to get alot more tips than musicians? I honestly can't say I've ever tipped somone who was playing music, i guess a bit of eyecandy earns alot more than a melody eh? even if it is just pixels and polygons ![]()
However, it also taught me why I'm not really interested in that sort of dance. At least not interested in recieving it. I don't do manipulation.
That said, why I got into dancing? I like the grace, the fluidity.. It just looks good! Besides, being the only guy dancing among all the girls, I get to flirt with all of them.
Personally I don't get the erotic dancer bit either but some dancers wish to roleplay in that manner and FD having been fairly vocal on the message boards wrote that up to explain her version of RPing.
I dance because being in the cantina fulfills my socializing needs while at the same time I feel as if I am doing something constructive with my time. Sorry to burst your bubble but a large number of the dancers out there could care less if you find their animated online toon attractive, frankly if you do that's your problem not mine. I created a Twi'lek for the bonus's to dance and music. I am fashion consience and try to look good (because I feel good when I look good) so I created a character that I felt was attractive and I dress her in clothing that fits my moods, my dances and my fashion sense.
Yes dancers get more tips than musicians, I find that fairly selfish on the side of the tipper since they are being healed by the full group and not just by the dancer. To offset this I fairly often split tips with the band, I enjoy dancing to music and I appreciate them being there.
Tal-N hush up on the male dancer bashing.
Its bad enough all the dancer's scripts bark out "gentlemen, men, guys" to my poor little female char.
How would you like it if you went into a cantina and the *only* dancers were men in thier undies tryingto rub on you?
I don't begrudge the guys thier pleasures, but consider the female audience and don't begrudge us ours by belittling male dancers! IMHO the male dancers I've seen in general have more class and more style on average than the females. I like that.
So, shoo. Go take your naked hunny over to the booth and stop heckling the male dancers!
/vote for more male dancers.

Tal-N hush up on the male dancer bashing
What bashing? I said the game needs more masculine dancing routiens because having a guy prancing around and doing sudectives dancers designed for more elegant women looks out of place. That's not bashing, thats encouraging the developers to make dancing more appealing for male players.
