Thread: Healing XP spikes?

Does anyone know what causes these seemingly random spikes in healing XP?

I've only noticed them for about the last week; I could've easily missed them earlier, because watching my XP counters tick away has never been my idea of fun, and only then because another dancer in my group got a sequential pair of 'hits' of over 1k healing XP each, and asked if everyone received the spike. Scrolling back... nope, it was just a spike for the one dancer. About a half hour later, she got another pair... and again, it seemed to just be her.

A few days later, it happened to me as well. Two healing XP spike pairs, one pair of which was 13xx and 5103 in the two consecutive hits.

Although a quick spike in healing XP is most welcome, I don't know why or how this happened. At the time of these spikes, I was dancing Exotic 2, in a fairly large group, wasn't using any lights or effects, and just splitting time between chatting with patrons, group chat and hitting periodic flourishes... nothing that I'd consider to be 'special' to trigger a huge healing XP hit.

Haven't seen anything mentioned on the forums about this yet... is this a known bug or feature? It sure felt like a reward... but I have no idea what I might have done to be so rewarded, so my first assumption was that it is random. Might it have something to do with those that are watching, i.e., if enough people with a certain combined amount of bf or mind wounds are watching a dancer or group, does it initiate the possibility of these spikes occuring?

I have noticedthat sometimeswhile dancing I would not get any xp for along period of time then I would suddenly get a large amount of xp. Maybe lag was delaying me getting my xp and it would all just catch up at once.

Back when I was working up the Dancer skills (October) I used to get healing xp spikes as well. Didn't really take any notice until I was on the last healing xp skill box. I tested it out a few times to try and see what was going on. I checked my group was all dancing in the main room of the cantina as a customer walked in and started watching. I'd start getting the xp and then it would just stop for no reason. Later I'd get a spike of healing xp, usually a few hundred but on occasion 1000 odd and once I'm sure I got a 3000 spike.

I found out that when I stopped getting xp it wasn't because there was no more healing to be done because I could stop dancing, start again and start getting the xp again. I should of /bug'd it really but it was back when I was new and didn't even know about /bug.

Its a bug unfortunately hon. What happens is sometimes you will stop recieving healing xp when you should still be getting it. You might even start receiving healing xp normally again afterwards and not even notice you missed it. But, sooner or later, and it can be days sometimes after it happened, the system will get caught up and give you all the healing xp you've missed in one lump amount.

It certainly is a nice surprise, but its not bonus xp, just xp you should have had in the first place finally being given to you. At least we get it back though instead of losing it completely O.o

I think Rangergirl is on the right track with her theory. I've seen this happen often but usually only with large groups and many patrons. I think it is a "lump sum" of xp the system has stored up that wasn't doled outin the smaller amounts like a dancer wouldnomrally get. Its been ages since I really paid attention to xp since after reaching masteryour xpjust becomes a bunch of meaningless numbers on the side of the character screen until it maxes.

Healing spikes have been in existence since launch. But it seems to catch up sooner or later,,

Worry about either dance or music exp,,healing will come naturally

But see... that's the funny thing. By the time I was alerted to the first spikes on the day that I got those huge ones, I started paying attention to the ticks. I was receiving normal healing XP continually before, and after, those spikes. Just out of somewhere, wham! ... 5103 healing XP.

Yes, it was a large group on a busy day. But I'm sure I was getting the system ticks. Unless it's a really weird bug, where the system messages say you're getting the XP, but you really aren't (I didn't check against the XP totals on the skills screen... this would be difficult to test anyway, as you'd have to pretty much know that a spike was coming to start tracking). If that were the case, and we still got a system message for the 'payback' of owed and previously earned XP, that would make sense at least.

Well, in either case it's certainly a lot of fun for a brief moment to look down and see those kinds of numbers. If it was just lump payments of previously earned XP, that's fair. If it was a huge bonus due to a bug or hidden feature, I'll still take it.
