No, dancers cannot (currently) buff themselves.

"Ironically, while researching this piece a representative from Sony asked us to keep in mind that many of the players complaining "weren't playing the class right," and that the class was designed as a solo experience. Such a comment is indicative of the original Ultima Online mistake: not realizing that once an MMO is released to the public, it no longer belongs to the developers, it belongs to the people paying $14.99 a month for the service."

I think Dancers and musicians should be able to buff themselves. After all docs can buff themselves in more stats, for a longer duration and for a higher amount, while we always have to run to another dancer (pay for shuttle if you can't find anyone on your hunting planet) andthen tip or even pay him or her since so few dancers work on tips these days. Why do i have to run to holo-dancer X to get a buff that i can do faster, for a higher amount and for free ?

I am a Dancer for fun and i will stay one. However, when i go to a raid as Dancer i can support anyone in the group with buffs but not myself ? Why should a group decide to take two Dancers just that they can buff themselves because then they could fightas well and maybe get a chance on some loot as well ? (Rifleman/Doc/Medic/TKA/... + Dancer Combo)

I have repeatedly asked the devs about a self-buff, and they've never flatly ruled it out. Once, a couple months ago, one of the devs implied to me the obstacles were more technical than design-oriented. We don't normally /listen or /stoplisten to ourselves, or /watch or /stopwatch, and yet that's what triggers the buff.

But I haven't heard anything more recently about this. The issue was on our Musician list of Top Ten Questions for the devs. Still no reply.

That's what Ravenmist said last time he told us about it too; they said technical.

I'm pretty hopeful on this one, I think they'll let us have it (no real reason not to). An interesting little thing that never clicked for me before until silly pointed it out, we do /stoplist and /stopw some how aotomatically. I was triggering a stored buff from another dancer when I stopped dancing much later and alone. I didn't get what was happening until she pointed it out.

It makes total sense though, without something like that we would just continue to heal our own mind wounds over time (not that I don't think personal mind HOTs wouldn't be an awesome perk for us, hehe).

Anyway, if I can trigger someone else's mind buff by stopping, there is hopefully some existing code that can be tweaked for self buffing. I hope they can look into it soon.

This is important because I only have the dancing buff line..I'm close to master pistoleer and have smuggler dirty fighting...I buff the minds of my guys for raids..and there I am 1st one blown away because of no mind buff.

am thinking of dropping the dance types (which IMO are a waste, because there are no bonus' to go with them) Just so I can take up more med and buff my main stats.
