Thread: I've Been noticing a new Trend...

I'm not a dancer, and I'll probably never be one; but this has been bothering me for awhile.

As if the afk holocron dancers weren't enough, now some of them feel the need to try and 'trick' me into thinking they are at the keyboard. Let me explain:

Alot of the macroes they've been running lately make them say a phrase every few minutes; or worse, every few seconds. It's usually something like 'Oh the band sounds good!'. Which is especially funny when they've migrated over to a corner due to lag and are stuck half in a chair no longer playing because they ran out of action.

Also I love the ones that say every few seconds 'Heals are appreciated hun...thanks...'. Of course no one ever heals them, they just join a massive amount of peoples ignore lists (maybe a Jedi is worth that I guess).

Basically; If you got to holocron a profession, or if you even chose dancer and like to macro for the hell of it, TAKE THE TEXT OUT. For the love of god do it. No one cares if you're AFK or not, and its so painfully obvious that you're away with a macro like that anyways.

This point was a semi-rant/vent, and I am in no way directing it at every poster on these boards; I just hope perhaps some holocronner/lazy macroer takes a peek at this thread and thinks twice about adding that certain 'flare' to their macro.

Have a good day.

Actually the afk people spamming the spatial are hurting themselfes.

Since the "bandleaders" are normally at the keyboard, they may feel
forced to /addignore the spammers to be able to communicate. And
get new members to the band.

It happened to me now more than once, that someone desperatly tried
to get into a big entertainer group, and I simply dont saw the requests,
because I ignored this person sometime before because of spamming.

Oh well...

Ya I'm hoping they wise up. You get your magical Master Dancer profession and then all your customers have you on ignore and you start to wonder why, it must suck.

Oh...I dont think the ones who really are annoying with
the spamming are working on something like Master Dancer
for keeping it.
So they dont need customers because they normally drop
the skills as soon as the badge is there.

But... in the process of leveling Dance or Music you really
want to be in the big groups. The huge group bonus is not to
be ignored.

So... SpamAFKGuy comes back from work / wakes up / whatever
and finds himself without group... and then he desperatly wants
to join one to start macroing again and go to bed / work / whatever

and this may be difficult, when the few people who are leading
the groups are not seeing your requests.

regards

Now I see AFK-advertising bots in front of Coronet starport. I hadn't even thought of using /ignore to filter out the spam, but it's a thought.

What I've noticed (I'm mostly in Theed these days), is I can't get into a group because

leaders are AFK! But that's another rant for another day.

The spam afkers are not only hurting themselves but also us non-afkers. (I sit down if

I need to do something that would take me away from the PC) Scenario: Lovely Chiaa

(my toon) logs in and runs into the cantina. 'Can I please get into a group?' No answer.

I do this til my fingers ache and I still can't get in a group. All the while there are about

30 people, all in the doorway (another pet peeve), shouting 'Pls invite, if I am not in a group

already' or 'I need an invite pls'.So, here are all these AFKers, who have been in a group

for 12 hours already for instance, not playing their characters, spamming away, and the

folks who actually want to be in a group to get experience the proper way.

I actually had someone give me a tip about a week ago (the last one I got as a dancer by the

way) for actually playing my characters. I get more money these days from ID and fishing.

(I'm not a combat person!)

I hate to say it but,....

Hi, I'm Bendi James and I'm a holo grinding ho......./crowdreply Hi Bendi.....It has been 2.5 weeks since my last spam. I stopped spamming the first time someone "kindly" let me know that it irritates the players thatare serious and true to the dancer and musician professions. I would like to let the "Dancing Professionals" know that even though I am a holo grinding, Dancer wannabe, I respect you enough to domy part and not spam.

I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that we really appreciate that, Bendi. (and in case someone thinks I'm being sarcastic, I'm not )

Also something else that is funny...

We post on this forum to talk to the AFK dancer. Or the Musician forum to talk to the AFK musicians etc. But the odds of them actually reading these forums are slim to none. People open a Holo. Go to the forum of the profession they were given, ask for a macro and never check the forum again (because they probably are 'subscribed' to their post and only read it. This is shown in the fact that no matter what the image designers do to help people out with sticky posts, they get 3 or 4 questions about the "Id Bug" each day)

So yeah, we (the people who are at the keyboard playing, entertainer, crafter and combatant alike) see these freaking irritating things. But the people doing it probably never read our issues. Motly because we've posted on the wrong forum.

And many never read forums in general.

Ya, i really dont like those people who go afk and macro much, but i really do hate the ones who have a text built in, its annoying, we know they are macroing so waht does it matter. You have a point with them not having customers by the time that they have their profession lol

Also, if you're afk-macro-ing, so have a huge change of being "kicked off" the server. For some reason, if you actually "say" something, you won't be...someone told me that back in my dancer days...I might be wrong though =P

I ignore all all /macrospammers even if they are in my group. It's not only because its annoying but as leader of 20 (I'm always on or within earshot) I need to catch every group tell and with the all the other activity in the chat window its simply one more form of information I don't need. If something happens to their online status (LD)not only to they get /dismissed but they run a real risk of not getting invited back - because I can't hear them then.

I find it amazing that someone who spams, "Heal my action" or "Please Tip a Poor Dancer!"actually thinks that customers or medics will find any impulse to grant their wish. If I do get a message fromthem (via someone else) of course I invite them back if they turn the macro off.
