Thread: An Actual Entertainer.
I would like to say greetings to you all. I am a Master Dancer on the Intrepid Server (Made it this weekend finally) and lately I have been getting some great compliments on the things I have been doing and would like to share the ideas with all of you.
Like most of the dancers on this board I really dislike the MAcro AFK Dancers because they have no clue about what the profession is all about. Those of us that went the hard way and worked our way up to the MAster Dancer class sitting there at the keyboard understand that it is a SOCIAL profession, and that many of the gripes people have about things (like tips) are taken care of when you talk to people in game and "SOCIALIZE". Those that AFK dance forget that they should be entertainers first and have no tie to the field, so would readily give up the class to go after another skill. I know personally I have debated long and hard about what skills to go after so I could keep my dancer class. At any rate, back to what I was going to discuss.

When I was dancing the other day in the Moenia cantina I received the best compliment in game that I have ever heard. I was told that I epitomized the Enthraller title that I was using at the time. I was glad to hear it as I was only dancing and lightly flirting with all the customers. Far form the "Cantina Whores" as written about in other posts. But that compliment got me to thinking, what more could I do to actually be an "Entertainer." The though struck me to use the little known entertainers gift we have called the /sing text box. I have actually taken the time to macro out (only text, flourishes and lightshows for one run) several songs. Currently I have designed performances and worked the timings out so that if you were to play the actual song in the background and synch the timing, the lyrics fall in time with the music. I have songs by Heart, Pat Benatar, Cyndi Lauper, and Roxette that I have designed, and the response has been overwhelming from those that have seen them.
My question now is, does anyone else have any ideas that we can use to help Epitomize the entertainer classes and make people realize that it is better to deal with an actual present dancer and not just sit and watch an AFKer?
Also if any of you would like further discussion on setting up songs, or to see the ones I have worked up. Let me know.

Another thing a dancer or musician who sticks to one venue such as my character does with Keren cantina and generally on Naboo, is that they often have a lot of information. Someone came in yesterday looking for "action" and (typically) not finding much in Keren. I RPed with him and he RPed back so he didn't just say, "Dude where can I find some rebels to PVP against?" but after some question it was clear he was looking for PVP and he was a covert Imperial. So I told him how Moenia is usually a rebel stronghold and he thanked me and went looking.
Later after he had racked up a bunch of wounds in PVP, he came back to Keren to get healed, and he gave me a HUGE tip, because not only did I heal him, but I gave him a lead on where to have a fun afternoon of shoot-em-up, which saved him tons of shuttle hopping until he had found the right place.
Lately I have started keeping a journal for Dejah -- a log of whom I meet and whether they are Rebel or Imperial (if they are overt, or let something slip). I have a bad memory and people often have odd names so I am starting to write them down and over time hopefully I will have a large list of members of both sides... Then I can sell this information at appropriate times and in appropriate ways.
That's not necessarily directly "entertaining" but it shows you something that an active, at-keyboard entertainer can do that an AFK macroer simply can't.
