Thread: Idea for the Cantina/Med Center War Zone Fix
If you spend any time in either of these places of healing, you see how irritated most of the players get over PvP activity within the walls. A lot of people would like to see a fix to this, and while it might not be perfect, I'd like to suggest an idea to be swatted around.
We've all been to a theme park or a house to which we didn't have access. You get bounced out, right? Well, think if Med Centers and Cantinas had a feature similar to this - anyone engaged in ACTIVE combat gets bounced out immediately.
Now, this would not effect STARTING combat in the med center or cantina, but once the combat is iniatied, BOTH parties get booted OUTSIDE.This way, people with TEFs couldn't hide inside either buildings as a safe zone, and even Docs could get thrown out if engaged in battle.
Face it - these places are not meant for fighting. Please, at least think it over.
Thank you.

Didn't Han Solo kill some guy in a Cantina? I have been asked to leave cantinas and medical centers when PvPing before and I don't understand it at all. In the roleplaying sense, I am not going to stop my duties as an imperial (removing rebel scum from the galaxy) just because I am in a cantina or medical facility. And from the standpoint of a player, I am not going to risk someone getting in the first shot (which is all that really matters) by standing around hoping they won't fight in a cantina / medical facility.

for the med center this might be a good idea, i don't have an opinion about that area. Perhaps the doctors would. I think it's a little strong as a measure in cantinas in places like Tatooine or outposts where the "law" would be scarce anyway.
I think maybe your idea would best fit in a few cantinas like maybe Bestine, Coronet, out on Naboo maybe. .. but I think that "realistically" (if I can use that word) shoot outs and duels etc. would be (and maybe already are) the norm in places like Anchorhead, Kor Vella, Wayfar, etc.
I don't think many entertainers want to see cantinas become open war zones, but I also don't think it's become a predominant problem.
Kicking people for any reason creates some side issues - for example, what if I'm not attacking anyone but an Imp opens fire on me? Am I going to be kicked too, even though I don't want to PvP at that moment? If I'm not kicked, does that make cantinas into an exploit loophole where people can run to safety and heal up before re-engaging just by hitting "peace"?
Personally, my first concern with cantinas is the presence of large pets. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if all pets were excluded from public cantinas. As for PvP inside the places, the ideal solution is to do something to boost the usability of private cantinas. A private owner can do anything he wants with his cantina, including ejecting opposite factions and banning PvP.
I would still like to know *why* people have a problem with fighting in Cantinas.
I have heard valid arguments against pets in them, you can't see the performers, but no one has given me a valid reason why fighting in a cantina is bad. What I think is it should be endorsed. If a fight breaks out in a Cantina I think it would be cool if the musicians automatically changed to a battle song or something. ![]()

I quite like it when a fight breaks out in the cantina - only because it makes my job just a little more interesting/entertaining.
Oh, and as for pets in the cantina - the last patch fixed it so if you wanna call your pet in town, you can't do it inside a buiding (eg no calling out your rancour in the cantina). Of course you can pull it out in the street then come into the cantina - but then the band wouldn't be too impressed with that, we want to see you pull it out infront of us! Coz we love that ![]()
I agree with Niklesnitz. What the heck is wrong with it. Anchorhead feels like the wild, wild, wild west. Its loads of fun. As a musician, I dont get to see much battle. And to read the chats between the rebels and imps is hilarious. I say, let them fight. I've never gotten hit by a balster or anything. Its great. Keep the fighting.
It's obvious that many of you who say this isn't a big deal or that it isn't important don't have a medic or entertainer. From a logical aspect, I have no problem whatsoever with people fighting in cantinas (probably because I don't have an entertainer yet, but I plan on starting one soon...hence, my presence here). Like a few of you above said, barfights are acceptable so long as they are kept in the proper context.
As for Med centers...with three medics on different servers and varying level of skill...it is VERY annoying to do your job with a full blown war being waged amidst the operating tables and hospital beds. It's hard to find the new, uninvolved patients to give them the healing they require (especially if you're neutral...ugh). When was the last time you saw a fight in a hospital? This isn't a bar, and it isn't "Thunderdome" it's a Medical Facility...besides, how would all the combat professions like it (and I've said this on many occassions across Bloodfin) if a cadre of neutral entertainers ran around and put on full-blown concerts in the middle of a big PvP battlefield/raid...complete with dazzling lights, smoke and the like. You wouldn't because it makes it impossible to do your thing with all the distraction...likewise, the entertainers and medics are in the same boat when you yahoos roll up in their environment and start shooting like gang busters...
It's common courtesy, which seems to have fallen by the wayside a long time ago...
