Thread: Found that you have to just watch to get mind buff
To my knowledge there has been no change to that. However a few bugs relating to buffing have come up since the last publish, so it isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility that a bug like that exists. The fact that entertainer buffs used to be like that in the beginning means that the code can in some form do it. It would definitely warrant further investigation.
It seems that the buffs are quite finicky now. If you are watching a dancer you cannot do ANYTHING else. No meditate, no listening to a musician and DEFINITELY NO DANCING!!
the best advice I can offer is to stand up, unequip your weapon, type /stopwatch;/stoplisten (just to be sure you are not already watching or listening to someone else), target the entertainer, type /watch (or listen as the case may be), type /pause 140;/tell Yourname it's time, when you get a tell from yourself that it's time you know you've been watching for over 2 minutes and can /stopwatching to activate the buff as soon as the dancer has performed sufficient flourishes.
I really miss the ability to give less than 2 hour buffs in a very short period of time.![]()
I'll put this here, since it seems to me that not many people know about alarms. You don't have to do a /pause followed by a /say or /yell. There is a command called /alarmaddin that will add an alarm. For example, to add an alarm for 3 minutes, you would '/alarmaddin 0 3 Buff is done!'. That will send the 'Buff is done!' message to your system messages and play an alarm sound on your PC when the timer goes off. You can see what alarms you have set with the /alarm command. The down side to this is that minutes is the smallest resolution, so you couldn't do exactly what Silly said in the previous post since it was for 2 minutes 20 seconds.
When buffing in cantinas, I use multiple alarms with the character's names attached so I can tell them when they are done...

Great advice. I always use the alarm function, in fact I have four and eight minute alarms macroed and stuck in slots on my toolbar.
Regarding the original question, as far as I know you still have to /setperform someone to buff them, or else group with them (and of course they must be watching you). However, if it's bugged it wouldn't surprise me. You know how you always have to be grouped with someone to do an ID change on them? Wednesday night I was buffing a gal and after she was done I got an ID "so-and-so wants to change your hair color" box on my screen! We were NOT grouped. I went ahead and accepted it (I have lekku, not hair
) but that was really weird. And she was indeed practicing ID on people because I heard her asking for training later.

Yes they have, sort of. One of the best musicians on the Bria server is a wookiee named Tinfoot and he has been experimenting with starting his buff 2min after I start mine with some sucess.
That's slightly different than I heard.. In either case, the key seems to be 2 minutes. The thing has caused many bugs.
As an alternative to alarms, or tells.. If you just want a message but don't care about getting a sound.. You can do the /pause thing followed by a /echo. You can even include colors in the /echo if you want. Don't think you can with tells anymore (Probably misremembering that) and I have no clue if alarms will use them.
Cassie, great idea about a separate alarm for each client, when buffing in a group. Now, if only you could make an /alarm macro for the hotbar that actually took arguments for time and message!
