Can a Dancer use it, if its prepared by a Musician...

As to have Background Music in Solo Dances?

Unfortunately not. But, it's something I'd like to see, and something I bring up as often as possible when it's not completely off topic in any given thread. LOL. If you'd like to see that happen, and others would too, I'd suggest trying to lobby for it. Talk about it on Panthu's threads. You never know, with enough support, it's something we might be able to see one day.

Well you got me behind the idea.

As they are now though it won't work. Currently if they are the only musician, you can't listen to them. If you start playing long enough for people to listen to you, then you can stop and have the droid play while you dance (Assuming you've got musician) and they will be able to hear it, but any newcomers are out of luck. That will teach them to be late to your show.

But I would love to have a droid as a backup musician for solo dance routines.

Yeah, I was bummed when I first found out we couldn't use them as a real "jukebox"... I thought maybe NewJedi had been asked about it and Musicians didn't like the idea, but no... it just didn't happen for us this go round. Maybe next time.

In envision a little domed guy beside the stage, playing jukebox in case no musicians are around...

maybe make this master dancer only.... i would be a lot cooler to dance on some outpost then make dance moves in silence...

The only way I could see this happening is if it benefited the musician class in some form, otherwise it has exploit potential written all over it. Call me over-protective, but Roho worked much to hard to become a master musician to get pushed aside by a droid. Out of ingame devotion (and RL friendship) I'dproudly dancein absolutesilencebefore I'd take anything away from the musician class and Roho.

If it were done the way I want it to be done, it would be used for entertainment purposes only. The musician would benefit because that would be his/her recording that we are buying from them. They would get financially rewarded. It could even be made renewable, I suppose, if it's made to wear out, thereby giving repeat business to the musician. I would not want to see these modules capable of healing or buffing. I just want a nice soundtrack to dance to when I'm in an empty Cantina. I much prefer to be dancing to live musicians. And, I think that for most people, if the soundtracks were made for entertainment purposes only and not healing or buffing, there'd be no real reason to want to exploit it in the first place. It would just be an alternative if you have nobody else to jam with.

We need to treat this possibility with kid gloves. It has unintended problems written all over it for the musicians. It would have to benefit the recorder of the trackin some way. I know I wouldn't want to see a holo-vid of my self dancing and not reaping any gain from it. (Lei has to laugh hear . . imagine anyone gaining pleasure or healing from watching a computer generated version of her "real life" dances!)

Hmm. i see problems there, all right. Well in RL it would be possible.

Gamemechanically, it gives no Buffing, Bonus, or whatever.

And its just a Recording.. the same 30Sek over and over again..

A Musician is surely the better way to accompany a Dancer...

But if no one is available? Mambe make it only usable if there no Musician of any Skill

Level in group...?

I dont want to cut the musicians here.. was just a thought...

There is another issue with this too..and thats the potential for even more bugs to crop up. Currently i am dismayed with the fact that as both a master musician and master dancer that i cannot buff someone while the droid is playing with dance.

I dont know why this is the way it is Panthu this is something you should throw up on the COrrespondence boards.

If you are a musician/dancer and you buff someone using music first...they stop listening they get music buff...they start listening again so they can hear the droid then switch to dancing while grouped with them. That way they can hear the droid playing while you dance. Problem is that when you do that you cant buff or heal with your dancing. I have tested this over and over again. Seems as long as they are still "Listening to you" you cant dance and have them get healed or buffed. This is a big bug...big big big bug. If i stop playing and start dancing..regardless if the droid continues to play i should be able to buff and heal dancing.

Actually, when Roho and I are grouped and buffing the same player, he has to store the droidfor hisbuff to take. He has sent in a bug report, but you know how far those goes . . . Then again, we've both been experiencing the phantom non-buff that has been plaguing a lot of entertainers lately.

ok Update on the droid/dancing thing i brought up in this thread.

This is what i have been doing to remedy this at least short term. I use my droid to play back up with me while playing music, i do the music buff while the person is grouped with me.

When they get the music buff application, i ask them to start listening to me again. Once listening i stop playing and let the droid to continue. I remove patron from my group, startdancing once they start watching me i do /setperform on them. Seems alot of the issue with not doing tandom buffs is tied to being a a group situation.

After having done this multiple times with success i think its safe to bet this will work the way it should. This way i can at least buff single people with /setperform While dancing..and also while allowing the patron to also be listening to the droid back ground. So at least i dont have to dance in silence. It adds a nice touch to any dance routine anway

Unless I'm mistaken, we Musicians are also having trouble buffing if we're grouped and performing with our droids. I tried it yesterday on TC, and I had trouble buffing.

I have been able to dance while my droid solos, but I recorded the droid's music myself, and I get it going by playing alongside it, then /stopmusic, then /startdance. Because I don't buff when I dance (I have only Master Entertainer), I just do it for fun; it's nice to dance with a droid jukebox. If I did have to buff, I guess I'd try what Sylune suggests.

If you have no music skills at all,you can't get the droid to play music, can you? Or can you? You can get it to play effects, as I recall, even if you have no entertaining skills; my Politician has an effects droid.
