I am sooo not trying to take anything away from musicians here. However, I spend 4-12 hours a day in a cantina and I can tell your for certain that the in game music gets WAY old.

Anyway, I figured you all may have the same problem and wanted to let you know about the internet radio station I run in the background. It's called Hurricane Radio. I'm actually a DJ there, so I suppose this is a bit of self promotion as well but I truely believe that having modern music running in the background enhances the cantina experience. It also makes some of the more "upbeat" dances look really good.

So it works like this.

alt+tab out of the game

go to www.hurricaneradio.net

click on tune in

I usually use mono to cut down on lag but if you have a good connection the stereo sound really is much better. So click on either mono or stereo.

choose a player. I prefer real one but most people like winamp.

right now on this station the windows media player won't work but that should be fixed soon.

Once you get tuned in just tab back in to starwars and have fun. all the starwars soundswill still play

I've found that it adds a bit of depth to the cantina experience. Just FYI.

Yeah, this is a good way to let musicians have their own original music playing also. We have electrostatic radio on Kettemoor, by Eon Blue. www.electrostaticradio.net

He puts ads for in game businesses and is playing original songs by players of some musician characters in the game. He does live shows for events

I like to use WinAmp and play Mp3's in the background. Also you need to go to Options in game ctrl+o, and slide the background music all the way left.

Players want? What know you of what Players want? For two years have we run Galaxies. Our own counsel will we keep on who is to be listened too! A Player must have the deepest pockets, the most simple mind. These a long time have we watched. All their lives have they looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never their minds on what bugs we had. Hmm? What we had not fixed. Hmph! Adventure. Heh! Excitement. Heh! A Player craves not these things, only uber L33tness. You are pwnd!

The music depends on the DJ. We are really not limited to any particular style. I've never had a problem with contacting the Dj's in Yahoo and asking them to rock out with some dance music. The yahoo id's of all the dj's are available on the website (www.hurricaneradio.net then click the "meet the staff" button and then the dj's button)

I set up my shows with SWG dancing in mind so if you are tuned in tonight you should have some good music to dance too. I cater to the lyrical, exotic and popular dances as well as a few songs that can actually make poplock look good on me.

Just post here what songs you would like to hear and I'll see if i can get ahold of them (must be clean enough to get past the FCC and I really prefer to stay away from country but I'll play it for a request.)

I will definetly try it tonight, and hey can ya play the Madonna one Hey Mr. DJ ( not sure of the title) around 9est? That would be great! And if I can get it to work I will let the other ents know and see if I can get them to listen in, and FYI when player cantina's go live I am gonna help run one. So if the music is great it will become a permanent addition when I can place our cantina! Thanks.

I attended a wedding reception just this afternoon and Silly did a great job! I hadn't tried internet radio with SWG yet and as a dancer, I was thrilled! The bride and I grouped up and danced a few routines with dances that actually fit with the songs that were playing. I even got my wookiee husband to dance with me!

Thanks for a GREAT show, TheSilly! We had a blast!

cool, eh? The wedding was a lot of fun and the Tournament on Friday was a total blast. Watching the fighters go at it with "LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR!!!!" blaring in the background was way cool.

btw, the station broadcasts 24/7 so if you have arequest and I'm not the dj, there is a page on the website called meet the staff. It gives all the yahoo messenger ID's for all the dj's.

If you have any questions about how to get tuned in or anything let me know here or in game. However, I often have a 3 ring circus going with my hair on fire when i'm in game. So if I don't respond right away just email (TheSilly on starsider)

well, as a musician irl, i was hoping they would incorporate midi files that could be run clientside or somthing. i guess a galaxy full of clientside midi files would lag everyone down. probably no less than commandos do though. heheh

Vellata Rar (TKM / Master Rifleman)Voltar (Dark Jedi Fisherman)
...but beware the darkside, it has a rediculously higher force cost and will lead to being ganked by exploiters...
(oh and little Catone's my boy too...the doctor buffbot that runs around playing swordsman)

Vellatar,

How bout you convert your stuff to mp3 shoot it on over to me via yahoo and if it's something I can use (no bad language, decent sound quality, ect) we can get it on the air for you.

My yahoo ID for the station is djSillySDL or you can email the mp3's to [email protected] Please put your server and character name on the mp3 title so that I can give credit where credit is due when playing it.
