Thread: Dancers on safari?

I was wondering what type of response the dancing community would have toward safari tours. I am working to become a master ranger and really dislike afk entertainers or finding a diserted cantina in the middle of nowhere when I need it most. I try to avoid the large cities.

I'm organizing a group that would like to offer our services as a hunting party for those non-combat oriented people. Trips to Dath in search of rancor, sightseeing to the ewok villages, maybe a fishing trip or two, that type of thing. the target client base are those merchants or medics that would like a hand in the actuall harvesting of thier resources. I'm wondering if dancers would be interested as patrons or employee's. I know dancers are not the richest in the gallexy but if the prices were reasonable would you be interested? I'm looking for feedback on the idea.

Thanks for your time,

That might be interesting. I have no comabt skills as such, (but I am one heck of a support person ) So aslong as someone can watch over me it might be fun.

That is the intention. I know several people that have multiple accounts because they have a character that can not do any type of combat but want to adventure. Anyone can use a noob gun and if we provide the protection it would give a few of these players a chance to enjoy an aspect of the game they normaly could not. It's an idea in the works. If anyone is on bloodfin and interested let me know. We would love to give this a few trial runs before we open for business.

I don't really need the services myself (my dancer is also nearly a master carbineer and can get on just fine on most worlds as long as I don't do something stupid). However, I think this is an excellent idea and I know a few friends who would like this. In fact we often take medics and artisans along with us in our hunting groups (and of course I do the mind buffing etc).

Even though I don't need the protection, I'd probably go on something like this just because it sounds like fun and a decent potential RP opportunity. I'd like to see more of this happen. The classes were so clearly designed to be complementary that it is a shame more people don't use them that way.

I've found that I enjoy hunting.

This was a result of my guild leader taking advantage of my sudden obsession with stuff. (Any stuff. Broken, not broken, a bowl, a bit of food that looks cool when dropped, a random ottoman, a necklace that refuses to be anywhere but the ground... many types of stuff) He mentioned that there might be a possibility to get a bit of clothing from the nightsisters. It only serves for appearance though. ...but to me, it's more stuff and it was also interesting, so 9like a magpie drawn to shiney things) I actually accompanied my guild to Dathomir. my first hunting experience outside of Tatooine's rill.

I poked at the Night sister Elder with a dagger with max 36 points of damage.

But I got addicted. So i got a better sword. I'm no tank... I relaly only distract the bad guy long enough for the doctors to heal people before they get death blowed... but I might get stuff.

So me- I'd be willing to go with groups that are hunting, I found that they are actually pretty fun- but only if a gorup is involved. Solo hunting bores me.

Roho and I love adventure, so don't forget about the musicians, too! We are both pretty good with our weapons (I am carbine 4 level) and have scouting skills, as well. I'm sure I'd find it fun and I bet Roho would, too! Of course, you run the risk of the safari running aground at the first cantina it comes to when the entire party starts to . . . . . party!! /big grin!

I want to thank you all for the wonderful feedback. I believe this idea will work. I sat down with my resident armorsmith/ tailor last night and we put together the first big game hunting package.

The package included:

1 big game hunter safari outfit, complete with the big game hunter helmet.

1 camo kit

1 med pack

1 high quality camp kit

1 CDEF pistol and a survival knife

Possibly a rental mount. I am working with our Bio-Engeneer to create a non ch mount

and of course an escort to the plantet of your choosing. We provide all of the basic services, though we are still working on achieving the level of quality we would like. We are still lacking a master doctor, and the group had to suffer my own terrible musician skills. In all the hunt to Endor was very successful. We were able to provide an healthy meat-wall that enabled several members to actually take no damage the entire evening.

If anyone is interseted and on the Bloodfin server send me an e-mail.

I do this sort of dancing a lot and I have some tips for "combat" dancers

1. Don't expect tips, but remember as part of the group you get your share of the mission pay out. I often get tiped too wich makes me feel a little guilty, but not for long <giggle>

2. If you have another skill to offer the party then by all means use it. I am a master TKA as a result fo going out with hunting parties. That said remember two things; first your job on this little venture is Dancer so be sure you save at least half your action bar so when a tent gets droped you can get the boogie on. Second is learn to use your combat skills in a suport mannor, this will usually net your less EXP but the party will apreciate someone looking out for their safty for a change.

3. Odds are the party knows little or nothign about how your class operates so it is up to you to give them 100%. This means as soon as the party forms if they are still waiting on members tell them all to come the cantina for a group buff. When on the field be SURE to anounce everyone "watch me for a buff" at the soonest possible moment. Parties have a tnedancy to go AFK as soon as the tent goes up and this is a great time to reapply the group buff, but you have to get them all watching you BEFORE they goAFK.

4. Be entertaining! As allways its not the healing so much as the entertainment you provide that will get you remembered.

5.Thefastest way to get into a hunting party is to go to a cantina on a distant planet that has lots of hunting groups on it. Dathmoore,Lok, Endor ect. Get into the cantina and be at the keyboard and interact. Most players asume your AFK unless you prove otherwise. Thats not entirely fair, but you can't really blame them. It is very easy to pick up a group just about anywhere though as long as your social.

6. Know where the cantina is!At some point in the hunt people will have BF and it is your responibility to know where the cantina is and get your group healedquickly.

7.Tip 7 and 8 asume you've spent most your life in a cantina and know little of combat. First off buy TWO probots as soon as you can. Thatis one healign in your data pad and one out and ready to fight. Understand the odds are your probot will never kill anytimg they simply dont do enough damage. They are great for blocking and tacklign though more on this in a moment. Understand that you will die a LOT at first and dont let this be a burden to your party. Allways write down your location before you release. Then sinple type /waypoint <number> <number> to set a waypoint to your party. If they move ask them for a new one. By doing this you wont slow down your party when you die and it wont become a drag for them to have a dancer along. The reason your going to die a lot is you don't yet understand how to stay alive in combat and your hunting pretty big game. Now i'll give you tips on how to stay alive.

8. Staying alive is mainly a function of range. The closer you are to an angry mob the more likely he willEAT YOU! So the first thing you needto do is offer him another target. This is where your probot comes in SIC IT on the thing eating you. Then move! move at least 10 meters from the mob! do NOT run spasticly off into the wilderness however just get some range between you and th mob! Also use your peace button soYOU stop attacking it. Let your probot take thebeating! Remember points 7 and 8asume you don't know a thing about combat, there are lots of neat things you cando to stay alive with your special attacks if you are a combat type too.

9. I made it to master TKA quite easily as a dancer and I never changed my stats from a pure dancer set up.So it is posible to do combat AND dance, but allways remember if you were brought along for your dancing skills then that is your job! Your combat EXP is a nice pluss, but beure you keep at least half your action bar ready to dance at a moments notice.
