Thread: Can we get a how-to on the new buffs?
TIA
- You target who you want to inspire.
- Type /inspire.
- Awindow pops up with your inspiration options. You select which inspiration to apply.
- Dance dance dance
I've never tried it but that's what I read. So correct as neccessary ![]()

Does the person /watch first? or do you /inspire then the person /watches?
- The person can walk away out of range and they just get whatever duration they had ticked up to, full strength on the bonus though
- You can change buffs at any time during the process by doing another /inspire, the duration timer just starts over
- Any old inspiration the watcher had gets over written as soon as they watch you

Are you sure on that Panthu? I had a general buff building up and hit my target with /inspire and as soon as the first +10 appeared I stopped watching (was testing BEbuffs, which are totally broke unfortunately) but the buff had 1hr to run. It might reset if you switch from say BE to chef, but the general one seems to count if you set it to an active one.

Actually this is the key step missed so far - you have to make sure that the patron is only listening or watching to you, and not any other entertainer (otherwise when they /stopw you they have 10seconds to stop any other buff from wiping out the one you just gave them).
So:
- Get an active buff from an Ent player anywhere
- Get a passive buff by paying a door fee at a Cantina
- Let Ents inside Cantina make money by participating in system active grouped challenges (mini-games, Fame challenges, Spy challenges, etc.)
Everyone benefits, no one is put out, everybody gets what they need and Ents no longer have to be "slaves" to the Cantinas to feel useful.
They'll just go to Cantinas to have fun and make money - like it always was meant to be.
I think charging at the door of the cantina for a passive buff is a bad idea, we want people in the cantina remember?

so... we are back to one at a time buffing I take it.
NO
You can buff as many people as you want at the same time.
(Oh, and I'm drafting a guide up now, while I wait on a patch on TC)

When they talked about doing it before, they said people would only pay if they wanted the passive buff. Anyone could enter anyway, they just wouldn't get the passive buff if they didn't pay the fee.
I think it was a good idea and it stops people from saying they can't get buffs and Ents are too hard to find. It beats the idea of putting in an NPC Dancer big time! It still brings people to the cantina so we still have a chance to engage them in conversation. The passive buff would take longer to apply than getting it from a player.
This was also part of the plan for the Cantina salary. The only problem with that plan was that it had the Ents speeding up the buff (good), getting paid automatically (good), but all we were doing still was buffing and hanging out waiting for people to show up (not so good).
If that old plan was just tweaked a bit, Ents could show up for a performance game as well as talking to people who came in and giving them a faster buff. We could be doing our fame thing, spy thing, or whatever so even when no patrons were there to buff, we'd have something fun to do. When they did show up, we'd socialize like normal. Everybody's a winner. \o/
I also think this would make it safe to let Ents buff anywhere, just like you can get IDed anywhere. That way people are rewarded for interacting with Ents anywhere, not just in doors. Throw in some extra functionality on the cantinas (ATMs, Bazaar Terms, Message Boards, etc.) and then fun stuff for Ents and non-Ents like mini-game challenges - it could finally be a real social hub.

Are the new buffs limited to cantinas, theaters, and hotels?
No - can be done in houses, guild halls, even camps as well
Draft guide is up - in entertainer forum (I'm sure you can all find your way there)
