Hello all you dancers out there. I just wanted to make a note of some of the things I've noticed about your wonderful, but lacking profession. As you read I'm sure you will see things that have come up plenty of times on these forums, but this is my list and if you don't want to risk hearing something you've alreayd heard, don't read, those of you that do, here we go.
Buff Bots vs Live Entertaining: Buff bots are going to die soon anyway, hopefully, but regardless... why? The idea of paying 14 dollars a month for a character that you never even use just bothers me. You want to know why I'm not an entertainer, why I haven't even tried doing anything other than the few professions I have? It's because I don't see it in my nature. I began playing SWG so I could act out my fantasy self. A hunter, and thats what Jedah is. Dancer Alts, Musician Alts, Doctor alts..... why? You don't want to be a doctor or dancer, so don't be one. Leave the professions to the professionals, to the people that want to be the profession because it's something they like. There is nothing in the galaxy better than watching a professional entertainer doing what they do. I was once in a party where our leader hired a musician/dancer to do buffs for the group. It was good to hear that he had decided to actually hire a person instead of using the buff bot a city away. I wish to the heavens I could remember the girls name, but she was great, she danced, she played, and when she played, she actually sung a song to go with it, she put on a show, she ever took request, and it was great. That is what I like to see.
The "Pop and Lock": ........ so a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away....Darrin Henson got his start. Something about this just.... bothers me. I mean, we don't know what kind of dance existed in the SW world, so I can't really argue, and I personally like the Pop and Lock, but it just doesn't fit.
Camp Dancing: Have you ever seen a Field Base? You tell my you couldn't relax away the fatigue of battle in the place, My hometown cantina doesn't make me that secure, I like the idea of turrets and fences, now that's relaxing. You guys should be able to heal BF in ranger camps.... the ones that involve using more tools than hide and bone.
Entertainer Droids: Yes Battle Fatigue Healing (They create a relaxing enviroment). No Buffing (It's not that relaxing.)
Stuff I Want To See: Dance Battles a la What ever that movie with the B2K guy was called. That would just be cool have scheduled battles or even just watch a dance battle break out when you stop in to get a heal. Now that's how you settle a turf war. The animations along, not including the physics and whatever else you would need for it would take it's own Expansion. Screw JTL! On with the Dancer Expansion!
Other Stuff I Want To See: This one is a bit more grounded, just a few more simple animations. I want to see some actual group dances/songs. I mean something where two or more dancers can be performing the same routine in synch and then if the leader executes a flourish, then they all do something together, like... ah hell I don't know, you know what I"m talking about, something that would promote group/team work among the dancers, something that would give them an edge over bots and what not.
Why I'm Making This Completely Random Post: I like dancers, I think they are cool, and I believe that it takes a dedication beyond measure to be a long time dancer and I think that those that know what they are doing are awesome. I am a Master Rifleman, and a Master Ranger, and my alt is a Swordsman. I hunt, I make it my goal to hunt down all of the biggest and meanest things this galaxy has to offer. As a dancer, once you become master, there is nothing left to learn, you are a master dancer, it's what you do, there is no future unlockable dance moves, which means it takes a will, and a want to stay with it, to have fun with it. It's something I respect, so I'm letting you know that not all of us combat goons think you guys are meerly here for getting us back to killing. Love your art, whatever it may be.
My Lovely Dancers:
Aulah: (CM/Dancer) "What's that? No tip, huh? Well then....disease for you!"
Dai'so: (Dancer/Musician) Man, watching Dai with that guitar....... man, let me stop.
Etema: (Dancer/Image Designer) Fighter for Live Dancers everywhere. Rock on.
Peace, Love and Dance the night away.

The good news is that we already have this with the/bandflourish command. It's just under utilized which hopefully will change, because it's a very impressive tool.

There are some really good examples of synchronized dancing/playing in the Cantina Crawl videos. Here is a link to the Gypsy website - click on the download section to see the videos. The Cantina Crawl vids have the biggest number of dancers/musicians doing synchronized routines if you want to check those out.

Those videos are awesome to see, I'd didn't even know Dancers/Musicians could do that stuff. I just wish I could catch a show like that live.
I want to apologize for junking up you good folks forums with my nonsense, and two for having the spelling and grammar of a four year old child. (Just read over what I wrote. Proofread, man proofread.)

Hun,I don't speak for everyone, but this is certainly not Nonsense! I personally love that you came here and posted about how you both appreciate our profession and how you would like to see us grow! Our roles impact more than just our community, so it's wonderful to hear from people who post both positive and constructive things.

Oh no, I thought it was good when I read it this morning too. Other than the anti-poplock part.
How can you have dance battles w/o poplock?

I also thought this was a great post. And, it doesn't matter if you didn't know we could /bandflo. I'm sure there are tons of things about your profession that I have absolutely no clue about...
In fact, these are the types of posts that I crave. It goes beyond saying, "you guys are cool" to the point of actually offering up real suggestions and support to make our profession better. It's something that I see lacking from so many others. So many just criticize something that they aren't familiar with, or they only post about how we are supposed to benefit them. What you're doing here is offering cross profession support and propping up. We'd *all* be so much better off if this was the norm. For, I think that you realize that if *our* experience is better, then *your* experience is better. Instead of looking for ways to disregard or 'nerf' to make your experience better, you're talking about ways that make our experience better to make your experience better.
Ok, I'm talking in circles here, but I think you get my drift.
It's sort of like when I say that instead of going out looking for buffbots, make friends of entertainers. The experience for everyone is so much richer and stronger.
It's also like the recent posts about us asking for added benefits to ranger camps. If the rangers are stronger, then the entertainers are stronger. When the droid engineers got stronger, the entertainers got stronger. It's nice to see everyone rallying around each other instead of complaining about each other. If this were the tone of all the posts on the forums, we'd be such a stronger community for it.
I'm not entirely sure what can be done for riflemen to help out entertainers, but I'd love to hear suggestions about things like this and be able to offer my support. The reality is, without the combat folks who need and want our healing and buffing, we wouldn't be as strong or needed. And, it's even cooler when the combat folks come in after a hard day of fighting and really and truly do enjoy the downtime and the performances. That's why I love the interdependence in this game so much.
In other words, I'm too long winded as usual, but, Great Post!!

when i first clicked on this thread i though "ugg another one" but i was amazingly surprised. These are the types of posts that every live entertainer should read and remember when they are performing inthe seas of afk tags, "tips are appreciated" every 10 seconds, and the desperate hall campers. ![]()

Actually, we can already entertain in faction bases. On my server, some bases even have resident buffbots.
