Thread: Dancers MUST work together and Unite

We've seen a problem occurring now and then with all the new players appearing....

Players treating Dancers like scum or as if we were NPCs there for their convenience.

We've talked about it in Keren and here's our plan:

When someone treats ONE of us badly, rudely, or in some way grossly offensive, we just STOP dancing and playing. And let it be known that we WON'T dance for so and so. Either he behaves or he leaves or NO ONE gets healed.

That way we leverage peer pressure from other players to ensure that we don't get treated in a way that is beneath our dignity.

If one of the new dancers won't go along then just leave him or her out of the group in the future and let them work on their own. Let them BUY their training instead of teaching them.

A surly rolepayer is one thing and to be expected and handled. A 14 year old with too many hormones or a powrergamer who couldn't care less about anyone else is something else again.

I know it sounds harsh in some respects but once we establish a precedence I think word will spread quickly that Dancers are NOT to be trifled with. They need US more than we need THEM.

Entertainers Unite!

Well, I play a medic in Kandaara, Naboo (Kettemor server), and similar debates have come up recently. My character also dances as a side profession, and is an artisan as well. Artisan pays my bills and allows me to gather supplies for making medicines...Medic is my calling, and I heal any who need help, regardless of attitude or payment...I dance because I enjoy it.

As a medic, I refuse to charge for healing or training and I will put in long hours at the med centre with little to show for it. I have dealt with surly and even offensive people who I heal anyway (even if they get triaged to the back of the line) and I do not charge my patients (but rarely refuse a tip).

As a dancer, I do not have to put up with offensive people. I dance for my own pleasure, beacuse I enjoy dancing and having fun after a long day at the medical centre. I have to put up with arses in the hospital, because it would be unethical not to treat them...but I do NOT have to put up with such people when I am dancing.

To some that may sound hypocritical, but it is a big difference between what I do as a profession and what I do in my off time to relax. I love healing because I feel the need to help others. I love dancing because it helps ME to relax and have fun.

I agree that dancers who do this work for fun, or business should never have to put up with rude customers (but if you are into dancing as a medical calling...well I feel you should never refuse a patient). Stick together and put rude people in their place...

Weird, I dance in Corellia on Tarq with a group everyday, and the most offensive people I have come across so far were other musicians/dancers who decided they didn't want to join our group so they proceded to stand in front of us playing n00b tunes and making comments about how lap dances were x-tra.

The patrons there are great though, we gets lots of repeat business and many many tips.

FlawedDiamond, I think if you take the course of action you suggest, you're playing right into the griefer's hand. Now, instead of having the entertainers mad at him he's got the whole crowd mad at him and is getting tons of attention. That's exactly what he wants. The rest of the players have no way to _force_ him to behave, I don't think it's right to stop servicing the many people who are supporive of the entertainers just because of a jerk. Personally, I just /addignore. If he can't get a reaction out of anyone, he'll either get bored and go away or eventually step over the line and do something that CS can take action on.
