Thread: On JOINing Groups....

Many people have asked me recently whether I have joined Group XXXXXXXX or YYYYYY.
I always tell them "No they haven't invited me." which always elicits something like "Huh? What do you mean? You have to APPLY!"
And thereafter ensues the same conversation every time.
So for the record and because the explanation is too long to put into a macro....
NO. I have not joined any group because none of the them have invited me. From my point of view being a member of an Group is a two way street. I should be proud of belonging to THEM and THEY should be proud to have ME.
The way it SEEMS to work these days is that the GROUP is assumed to be wonderful and Membership is an Honor and a Priviledge granted ONLY to those deemed to be worthy of being accepted. Question being from the Very beginning WHO makes the decision as to MY worth? That immediately creates a situation where MY belonging to the group is at the whim of those who judge me worthy one day and may change their mind the next.
I don't strive to live up to the expectations of Others.
I strive to live up to MY expectations!
Well you know girls, I have a lot of flaws and weaknesses like anyone. But I also have a lot of Excellant qualities and strengths. I know myself well enough to feel that the Good FAR outweighs the Bad. I am worth a LOT. All in all I'm one of the BEST people I know.
Is that arrogant? Perhaps. I prefer to consider it selfconfidence and a solid knowledge of who and what I am. If that makes me arrogant then so be it.
If someone thinks I'm Worthy to belong to their Group then they are free to ask. And if I think the Group is Worthy of ME then I'll join. But it'll be a cold day on Tatooine before I go asking someone whether they will Approve of me or Accept me.
If they don't want me or value me enough to ask then....hey! Their loss!
I hope that will save a lot of people the time and trouble of listening to a long-winded explanation in- game.
