Thread: Stupid Question Time
Well I guess it didn't like my enter key. Sorry...
Is it me or does the amount of dancing experience given and the levels required for a novice entertainer seem a bit off-key. The only way to get xp for the most part you must do a flourish in order to get any sort of experience. I'm wondering if there are plans to either increase the output of experience or modify the skill levels.

yes, you have to do flourishes in order to really get any xp. What's the point of dancing if you just shake your booty back and forth in one spot for half an hour? Where's the fun in that? And what boring person would want to watch that?
**edit**, no wonder I suck so much in real life dancing
Ya know, that's all good and well, but let me just use an example:
After three hours of dancing and doing flourishes non-stop. I gained one entire level of Heal (Level 2), and only a third of the required XP for Dance 2. So I'm just saying that maybe the XP for doing those flourishes should be looked at rather than just giving it out completely. When you do a flourish and get 2 XP for it and need 15000 to get to a new level, that's a bit well... ya know.
The reason that the xp for entertainment healing is less per level is because you must rely on other people to watch you for that xp. So yes, sometimes the healing xp will go faster then the dance xp. Also, if you're in a group with other dancers, your dance xp willbe greater when all of you are dancing.
Another thing to remember is that when you do a flourish, the xp willpulse. Meaning, you do /flourish 1, you will get x amount of xp, and a few seconds later you'll get x-y amount of xp, and so on till you don't get anymore xp for that single flourish. This is why people make macros for dance flourishes. For my macros, and this is just my preference, I put a 30 second pause in between flourishes, some people use 9 second pauses, others use even 40 seconds. Hitting flourish 1, then flourish 2, etc over and over with no pauses will just drain your action too quickly and you'll spend more time on your arse then on your feet working at your profession. Give it a try.

Also group to maximum size....
Grouping isn't just for doing coordinated dance.....Depending on the size of your group, and the experience of its members, you will see anywhere from 2-4X normal flourish experience
We regularly have evening groups of 15-20 folks in the cantina, and most times when a "new" dancer comes into the group, they will be asking about training at least once during the evening....usually more than once...
For example, doing Exotic2 dance (yes i know, its a high level dance, but its what i'm doing now, so the points variance is fresh in my mind) solo I gain 30-40 per pulse solo, assuming i keep up the flourishes
Grouped with about 10 people Xp ranges 60-80
Grouped with a full 20 folks Xp ranges 100-120
I know some folks prefer to dance solo, and there's nothing wrong with that, but if you want good fun and good xp, grab every entertainer in the Cantina and mash em all into one group....Musicians may take a bit of an XP hit (Although I am told that using your best instrument on lower level songs yeilds appropriate Xp) but the payoff in fellowship and group unity are worth it, in my mind.
some of the best people i have ever met in any of the games I have played are currently working the Theed cantina nightly....and to think if I hadn't types /join that first nioght i wandered in from Mos E, I'd have never met them.
