Thread: Dancers, your opinion please.
Been kicking around an idea on the musician board that we want to affect dancer as well. We would like some dancer input on it though as well. Here is the thread:

Most of my dances are on the fly and I like to be able to pick the perfect flourish for the right moment as well as change my dances to match the music from the band.

Sometimes the dancersi n my group do bandflo's. It looks really cool. We all do the same dance, and then someone does /bandflo 1 or whatever number and we all dance in synch. We inform everyone in the group that if they do not want to do this, since they will not gain XP, to please do the command /bandflo off so they will not be affected.
Last Friday we had a party going on. We ended up getting a bunch of people in a row and we were all doing basic with bandflo's. It was a riot! 10 people doing the moonwalk at once. Hehe!

I agree that I'd like to see a different command for the dancers and musicians as one flourish number might look good for say a musician and horrible for the dancer. Any opinion on the knowledge tree change and ME change though??
I posted a response in that thread, but will say even here that I am VERY opposed to the idea of someone with any level of Music Knowledge controlling Dancer flourishes.
The ability for dancers to flourish as a group already exists - /bandflourish only applies to music OR dance when it is done, depending on which it is the person who's doing it does. So a 'dance lead' is able to bf dancers while the music lead does the same for musicians. Perfectly implemented just as it is.
I think the true reason for this post is because many musicians want the ability to play ceremonial/mandoviol without spending points on image design and dance for Master Entertainer. 
What they really need to do is change the description of Master Musician.

It wouldn't be a musician or a dancer controling the bandflourish, it would be the ME. As it stands, I rarely if ever see any bandflourishing because of the xp problem.

It's also here because there are dancers that don't want to have to ID and learn music to be a master dancer. Just a thought though. In my case, I'm a musician.
No one has to master entertainment to master dance OR music, so what you just said makes no sense.
All that ME 'buys' is a few dances, an instrument, a song, and a title. If any are so important that you want them, then train ME just like those of us that do have them.
On the side of the musicians Master Entertainer gives two completely unique skills thatfall under the musician tree whereas the skills that come from the dance tree are only upgrades of dances that we already have and master entertainer gives nothing to an image designer.
Part of it is based on how the musician tree works each level they get a unique song and instrament. Whereas with dancers we sometimes recieve new dances but sometimes we just recieve upgrades. For a Musician to be able to play all the musicial instraments and songs they must become a Master Entertainer as well as a Master Musician. But a Dancer can still dance Footloose or Formal without having to be a Master Entertainer.
I really feel for the musicians on this it is unfair to them. Personally I love ceremonial and cheer when there's a ME around to play it so I can dance lyrical if even for just a few minutes while the rest of the band is resting.
Master Entertainer should give something to those folks that do decide to go the full route but at the same time it shouldn't take anything away from those that choose not to. Perhaps ME should recieve additional skill mods across the board plus recieve some lightshows both for dance and for music (or better yet AoE or targeted effects) that are unique to the ME's since lightshows are eyecandy and entertainment but not necessarily music or dance.
I agree that I don't necessarily want to give over the power of my flo's to a musician I could see the ability being given to a ME but not taken away from either musician or dancers maybe a troupe flo that would have it's own toggle. Band flo's as they are don't make alot of sense unless it's a true band that works together often for performing not just a pickup cantina party for experience. A director that could do band/dance synchs might be a good idea but I don't see that coming in at Master Ent since a ME really has little knowledge of the elite profession songs and dances in order to put them together. If there was a combined elite skill that someone had to have master dance and master music for it would fall into that since they would already have the professional knowledge of the dances and music.

That is a very good point that hadn't occurred to me. I guess I can take the /bandflourish back to the drawing board for at least a revamp if not a trashbin 2 pointer. Thanks.
I think synchronous dancing is fun, but only if you want to, it looks awesome! Especially if you have band all playing a great tune, and a bunch of dancers putting on a show *grin*
