Thread: How do you feel about the mission nerfs?

It seems that the big patch this week will cut mission payoffs in half. For some folks maybe that's not an issue - those who are able to run high-level destroy missions, for example, won't see much of a cut. For others, like Dancers, the effect may just be disastrous. We have no guaranteed income from tips as it is, and now our alternate form of income (missions) is going to take it in the chops.

I'm not at all sure about the logic behind this move. It seems to me that if money supply is the concern, this is like shutting the barn door after the horses are out. Those who have been running missions night and day since release already have their millions of credits. The rest of us are out of luck.

EDIT: I forgot to add something about the new entertainer mission terminals. This may be the biggest joke of all:

Show of hands please: How many of you will be taking those delivery missions when it costs more for a shuttle than the mission pays?

You take two missions on the way there, and two on the way back.

My dancer has all of her advanced TK boxes done so I am hoping *fingers crossed* that the knockdown nerf won't leave hertotally unable to do the higher level missions still. Otherwise I think she'll be changing secondary professions to a pistoleer and be spendingthe next six months in the field training instead of entertaining.

I never thought I'd say this, but if it comes to that I'm cancelling. I've been a staunch defender of SWG from the first, and I desperately want to love this game. But everybody has their limits. Moving the target constantly is a good way to inspire frustration in the players.

Tiaga, 2 missions there and 2 back is 4 missions, for a total pay off of 80cr. The shuttle tickets are going to run you 210+. The match does not work.

Seriously? Cross city missions pay what same city missions used to pay?

Ouch. Major ouch. That means the only way to get money is to run, which IMO is not worth even the previous payout of 1kcr per mission.

Delivery type missions (I am asuming gig missions fall into the type) are not suposed to give you a profit jsut reduce travel costs. I know most don't think entertaienrs make enough tips, but in truth we have no expenses either. Clothes are fun and so is travel but sicne clothes don't wear out yet we get by pretty cheap. That said I think I make more then enough on tips, it just takes work to get them. I do admit I have danced a few nights were geting a tip was like pulling teeth but those nights are rare. I posted a guide called "Sultrina's dance school" if you look it up you might find some nice tidbits.

Good luck,

I'll be doing no missions

This is just plain horrible. I love dancing, but I simply cannot rely on tips alone to support me and my husband that is working on tailoring right now.

This certainly puts a big damper on things for me.

From that link it sounds as though they only testing entertainer missions and those are the ones that are paying 20cr per. I'm curious what regular delivery missions are paying out on the test server. Right now a cross planet one will pay about 700cr, two there and two back will still leave you with a nice profit. Even if they half that payment it will still be more than the cost of the shuttle ticket. Any dancer can do delivery missions.

Who takes out of town gig missions anyway? The complaint in that thread is that it doesn't pay to travel. Even with the current NPC gigs, it's silly to pay for shuttle travel. If the upcoming mission payout nerfs make travel impractical, then just don't travel. Heck, with a terminal you don't even have to do the accept/abort thing. You just refresh until you get a gig you like.

As long as the payout nerf is across the board (which is apparently the case) then I don't see the problem. I've said it before- money is ridiculously easy to earn. Even destroy missions are not that hard. The terminals assign missions based on your current combat strength. Start the session with no weapons equipped. You'll get the easiest mission there is (assuming your an average entertainer and not a teras kasi artist or something.) If you insist on not having any marksman skills or decent guns, then take a friend or two with you. Have everyone get easy missions. Go work together and finish them. (Hint - On Talus, take paralope missions. Look for similar lairs on other planets that involve animals that don't assist each other and that are relatively easy to defeat.)

Now, you can argue that you shouldn't have to take missions and that's another ball of wax. The point is, the missions are there and they're free money. You just have to learn how to work the system. With the payouts nerfed, you just have to work it a little harder, is all.

I tested the Entertainment Missions terminal this morning after the patch was installed.

I picked two missions that started 103m away from me, each one paid about 180cr. I went into the cantina and danced, and during that time some people came in and watched, healed my fatigue and thanked me. Both missions were finally fulfilled (I believe it's a particular amount of xp?) and I had 360cr for doing what I normally do.

Now, 360cr is not a lot of money, but this required no danger, it was 103m of travel and while I do not need the XP, for Entertainers still working their way up the ladder at least they benefit this way. I forgot to time it, but I think it took about 10-15min total. I noticed after I did this that there was an Entertainer's terminal right outside of the cantina, too.

You may not make enough money to live on this but if you needed some extra credits, this is not a bad way to do it, and it pays more than delivery missions that are inside the city.

Another thing that folks are overlooking with this new gig mission terminal - You don't have to go more than about 50 feet fora mission now.

With the NPC gigs, it was a pain to get a gig, run to the cantina/hotel, do it, and run back. You'd normally do the gig solo because it was inconvenient to share and you didn't want to be joining/leaving groups all the time.

With the terminals right outside, you might as well have someone standing at the door writing you checks. The average entertainer (in my experience) is going to spend 1-2 hours in the cantina in a session. With the terminals right there, it's now no problem at all for a group member to run outside, get a mission to the same venue as the group, and run back in. EVERYONE in the group would (or should) do this. Sure, you'll split the reward with the group but if the whole group is constantly on gigs then it'll even out in the long run. It's no different than melee groups that form up and share destroy missions. Over the course of an hour or two you ought to make 2K or more doing nothing that you wouldn't have been doing anyway!

Frankly, it sounds to me like they just made it so that entertainers have a guaranteed source of income now. Once again, it's all a matter of learning how to work the system. Group up everyone in the cantina. Only accept gigs to the cantina and keep the gigs flowing. Sheesh. Complain to an artisan about this and then ask "Oh, how were your survey missions affected?". I suspect you won't get much sympathy from said artisan.
