Hi guys,
So with the changes coming up, I've been thinking of how we can better provide services to those that need them. I realize not everyone is available to buff/heal all the time, and that there are times that we all want to go out and take a break. But I think it's a good idea to start thinking of how we canmake this transition from Buff Bots to live entertainers a little more easy for those affected. Here are some of my ideas:
Register - Yes it's broken, but getting in the habit will help when this is finally fixed and it does work some of the time.
Create a Buff/Heal Chat Channel - Separate from the general "chatting" channels, a channel setup where "combats" can check in to see if there are any available entertainers to buff/heal in their area. Entertainers who are available to help out could log into the channel and offer assistance when necessary. The channel could be advertised on the galaxy forums so that combat types are aware of ways to contact buffing ents.
I think our goal should be to mend some of the wounds this fix is going to create. There are obviously people out there who are upset about this change, I think we should do our part(without sacrificing our fun) to help ease this pain. If you have other ideas, or think I'm just incredibly insane, let's hear it!

I think a Buff channel is a great idea. This works well for Rangers and our RIN channel. Docs and SMiths log on there when they want to give out a contract. Buffers who are looking for customers and customers looking for buffers will be able to find eachother easily.

Why don't you start by making a list of all the availabledancers/musicians on a specific server and then posting it on that serverboard instead of on the Dancer/Musician board?
I think people rarely visit boards of professions they don't have.

I'd say it is because it would fall back to page 90 of the server boards in very little time and wouldn't be much use then. The only way to keep that from happening is to have the threads stickied and that is unlikely to happen since the stickied area is a very desirable location in any forum. It also doesn't take much effort for someone to come to the dancer/musician boards to find the lists stickied in them since that's the obvious place to find us.
Besides - do master doctors have a list on each server? Do rangers? Do Bounty Hunters? Jedi? Then why should we have to be the ones to kowtow in such a manner?

The entertainer group already has a sticky thread on 'how to find an entertainer', involving the creation of entertainer channels on each server:

Hey, suit it yourself. You had the problem of being known on the server, I just offered a suggestion for a solution. As far as I know, doctors don't have that issue, but you apparently do.
