Now it will be up to us to prove the change is for the better!
This means we will have to be approachable and willing to buff ppl who ask for this politely and are willing to tip for this.
This means that excuses like 'the spatial is a spamming ground' or 'why bother, the buffbot is dancing' will no longer apply!
In short, we'll have to repay the kindness visited on our profession by fully being supportive of the community that needs us.
A friend of mine was online for over 2 hours before he was able to get a buff, and that was on dathomir from a buffbot, his last resort. I can feel his frustration when he told me: the next person I hear whining about buffbots is gonna get a few new scars mighty quick'
Had anyone been atk ànd watchfull of the cantina they'd have made money, but nooo, it's easier to post in the forums how bad we all have it and how hard it is to earn a buck. this was in corolag cantina so not exactly a small backwater cantina, too..
Not saying this is true every day, nor in every cantina. just saying this will have to change if we are to keep the changes to the macro system.
I'm not without blame, I had also given up on buffing pretty much but when this change is implemented I will do my darnest best to do what we are meant to be doing! dance and be entertaining, while giving ppl more of a fighting chance..

This is all very true. Once the bots are gone, there's no reason to hide out anymore.
But, as I mentioned in a brief congratulatory victorychat with famousFATWOOKIE...Tonight I celebrate! Tomorrow I begin planning to assist in my partof rebuilding the cantina and entertainment scene.

Sure it's hard to find a live entertainer to buff when theres a buffbot around, If i want to buff and i see a buffbot set up shop ill turn around and leave 90% of the time because doing the one buff on dathomir for the guy like your friend, who will seek out a live entertainer, and then not Getting another customer for 3 hours as they line up at the buffbot is frustrating. I oftendo buffs in theed regardless of the fact that the resident buffbot is in just becuse i like to dance in theed and the crowd tends to be friendlier than the hardcore combat types that hang around on dathomir or dantooine. Were there no buffbots there i'd absolutely go to dathomirto buff, possibly with a musician friend so as to do both buffs.
I think what it realy boils down to is that many people want to be able to get buffs without having to ask for them or be polite to someone in any way. Twice today I had someone walk up and say simply "invite". At which point id say "im not a buffbot, i can buff you but i'dprefer to use setperform to do buffs". At which point both parties in question failed to respond any further and eventualy just wandered off. It's as if its a painful ordeal just to say could i have a buff please. With a buffbot they can do this and stiff them on the tip as well without ever having to deal with the emotions of another person.

Oh, I assure you... he is the one TRUE famousFATWOOKIE from Ahazi, the Godfather of Nalargon, the original, the Ayatollah of Rock -n-....
Okay, plenty enough of that. Yes, that famousFATWOOKIE.
Do remember now, for all those who are sure they have heard of him... if he wasn't famous, he'd just be a FATWOOKIE.
Okays, FFW, I'll send your PR department the bill for the plugs early next week....

Somehow I don't see them going away --- The loop is being taking out - but not macros in general. All the buff bot has to do is write a long macro - visit the bot every once in a while and make sure it's running.
One thing I do see it hurting is the 3 minute buff... I have people willing to pay me extra to give them a 3 minute buff - instead of the 8 minute buff. /shrug
I also have a Macro set up for flourishes and changedances which is a dance routine I made up - it took quite a while to get it to where it is smooth. I use this macro so I can talk with people and be giving a nice dance performance at the same time..... I guess I will have to rewrite it now....

Exactly. We are "them," the annoying "social" people in the cantinas, a time sink and a waste of precious gaming time for the hassle of having to speak to us. Buffbots being NPC vending machines was the best thing ever to people who have no respect for entertainers because they didn't have to deal with "them" any more. Their hatred was showing through...but not any more. Finally the core reason behind why AFK is bad -- RESPECT -- will be addressed.
Hopefully it will mean that some of the hatred will truly melt away, since IMO it's unfounded. At the very least it will retreat back under the surface, and I can deal with a fake smile and thank you if I have to... 'cause if you fake it often enough you start to believe it.

It won't hurt the 3 minute buff.In fact, try it now and get used to doing it. Won't be sucha shock when the new system is in place.
Do the 5 flo's and the pause of 8 seconds in a macro (or just use your old one and take out the /ui action command at the end). Now copy and paste those flo's and the pause in the same macro 3 more times (4 total iterations of the same commands in one macro). At the end of the macro, put a /tell to yourself in that says "Hit F1 again!" Wait to hear the /tell, hit the Hotkey the macro is in. You should only have to hit the F1 key6 times to do the 3 minute buff.
Or, instead of 4 iterations of the macro, make it 8 iterations. Now you only have to hit your F1 key 3 times in 3 minutes.

Since I am the friend that Amida is so valiant trying to help , I feel I should say something. There are alot of players out there who want to support playing "ents". We're fighters and need buffs to get alot of the harder missions done, I can't count how many times I've walked into a cantina asked for over 10 min if someone is selling buffs (and I don't care how it's done.. in group of what..I leave that for the ent to decide..whatever is easiest it's no biggie for me) only to get no reply or at best I get yeah I buff but not doing it now. So what is my course of action than.. I have no choice to go to a buff bot if I wanna do my missions and make creds onlt to get yelled out by an ent (who won't or isn't buffing) that I'm stealing xp away from them. I know it's hard for ent's now with all the afk zombies out there, but when ents get in groups and stay in groupchat you're missing out... quite frankly it'll be a long time before I ever bother to try and find someone to buff me in a cantina it's a waste of time.. by the time I was bale to get tings done buff wise I had wasted 2 hrs.. why because I was trying to support players not buff machines. Thank you amida for trying to point this out and help us fighters, and to anyone else who is trying to play and be helpful good luck hope things work out better for the ents.

This is not so, there are other systems in place in the game that take the place of buffs just fine. Back before the Chef revamp this was true, mind buffs were the only way to enhance mind in a meaningful way. I've done almost every combat profession there is and i've done the hardest missions possible in the game and i could do it all without mind buffs no problem.
You may say food is too expensive, well considering the average tip i get for a mindpool only buff is about 10k and asuming you pay another 10k for musician too thats 20k. Vasarian brandy averages about 9k a shot and granted it lasts a shorter time its not that much more expensive and is very handy to have. With 2 vasarian brandies and one ahrissa i can spam any special i want for any length of time with no mind cost, if thats not enough in an emergency i can use 3 canapes at once and its possible to recover from basicaly any pve situation. Considering you can make about 60k in less than 10 minutes with no trouble whatsoever with any master combat profession mind food seems even less of a problem to buy.
Pvp is a different story anyone will say, and yes mind is a problem as ever in pvp, but steps are being taken to aliviate that, and it is the main focus of the combat rebalance. Even now new fearures are on test center to limit the damage done by combat medics through new disease and poison resistance buffs for doctors.
So to me the argument that entertainer buffs are impossible to live without 24/7 free access to is a hollow one, people are spoiled plain and simple.

dreamland, you are missing the point hun
We are getting respect from the group of players that appreciates live entertainment, but if we stay in groupchat and can't be bothered to do our jobs then what are we doing ? We are setting the stage for people to stop trusting in our services.
I've seen how the cheff buffs work and frankly was not impressed.. sure, you get a mindbuff without having to look for someone but have you seen what happens when it runs out ? màjor bummer.. puking all over, health goes bye bye.. I think the cheffs are overdoing it with the spices /grin
another alternative is brandy, which is better.. but the point was that people appreciating us DO look for us but that we make it kind of impossible at the moment for them to retain the faith!
It'll get better after the recursives are taken out no doubt.. still I think the people who want to play the game it was meant to be played before this is gonna happen have to be pampered, not lectured or ignored..
