This is what got the idea rolling

No Functionality

Zone 2 is only feasable with passive buffing of crucial functionality. For non crucial functionality, passive buffing is fine.

We have something for crutial buffing already built in the game and it can be based off the Theatrical Quest mechanics and maybe the proposed smuggler slicing game.

The seed of the Idea

Imagine a small window. maybe even transparent. Maybe a vertical toolbar that becomes available to Entertainers.

Down the left side would be a verticle row of boxes that the dancer can drag macros into. The can be run by clicking on each or mapped to a key combo. ( Ctrl+1? F1? Shift+F1? )

Instead of forcing the dancer to peform a specific way,the buff gamescans for repetition. e.g. flo 3, flo 1, flo 2, SPAM, repeat etc.. The More/faster therepetition of flos, effects, and /sing emotes, the lower the quality of the buff. No action does not raise the quility of the buff.

Looping macros run from the toolbar still work, but the actions flos do not register and have an effect on the quality of the buff in the buffing game. It is treated as no action on the part of the dancer/musician.

/ui action, /macro do not function when run from the buffing game window/toolbar. there will be no /ui action for the Entertainer toolbar available to the player. However, the dancer / musician can sequance all the macros for a single pass through by a small button. them the game would run macro 1, 2, 3, etc.. and theseactions register on the buffing game.

Aliases would have to be disabled from the entertainer toolbar as well.

Whoa confusing! But I see something in your explination that's interesting, the longer your flo pattern remains unique the better your buffing power is. It's a cool idea but currently there isn't an entertaining buff capable of being buffed more, maybe it would effect buffing speed but then lots of dancers would just keep doing the same flo over and over to minimise buffing speed so they'll get more exp...

Making macro activated flos invalid would do way more harm then good, baking it moniter the flos you do though seems like a good idea to me.

We CAN still use looping macros. It just won't have an effect on the quality of the buff.

Trigging a series ofmacros would still be available and have an effect of buff quality. You just have to use the sequencer built into the entertainer toolbar.

Looping macros have to go away [ from the buff process somehow ]

The problem is:

  • The devs have flat out said the looping macros are not going away for the main part of the game

  • We cannot have crucial functionality as long as the buff process is passive and they are there.

  • We want a passive buff process so we can concentrate on our performance.

Only non-looping macros ( or direct flos, effects from the normal toolbar runwith the entertainer toolbar sequencer will have an effect on the quality of the buffs.

This would also make it possible for the group leader start eveone's macros loaded int each sequencer with something like

/cuedancers for just dancer in the group
/cuemusicians for just musicians
/cueband all entertainers in the group

I don't think this statement is true. The current direction of AFK macros is still stated in TH's famous (perhaps infamous) "Recursive Macros Are Going Away" post that is still prominently listed in the "In Development" forum (I don't think I need to link that again here). While there was one dev comment a couple of months back that made an offhand remark about AFK entertainer bots continuing to play a role (just a less desirable role than active ATK Ents supposedly), I'm not sure that that post, or perhaps even the thread that contained it is still viewable. I think I tried to look for it recently and couldn't find it even though I had a followup post in it. In any case it seems to run contrary to TH's post which could have been removed if they had changed their minds, but so far it's still there and still suggests that that is their direction. More recently there was a dev quote from another source that said that the recursive macro fix was supposed to go in last month. That didn't happen, but the fact that they reaffirmed the intention to remove recursive macros and even committed to a date at all is the firmest indication I have seen recently that they will still carry this out.

Think this may be it.

*Rennio{Flurry}* "With the proposed removal of looping macros, will entertainers still be able to use /ui action toolbarSlot00 loops in order to communicate with customers, or will they still be forced to keep repunching short macros? The removal of looping macros solves our buff bot problems, but limits us in the customer service we are allowed to provide to patrons.

*TH* Rennio and to everyone who is concerned about recursive macros, we are not going to remove the /ui macro commands. We are going to use a different method to encourage people to play "at the keyboard". Removing those basic abilities for players to use the GUI command would be a huge inconvenience and we dont want to do that.

This is going dangerously close to some other thread so I will refrain from comments I want to make and just point point that they keep going back and forth between Yes and No. They know it helps some professions greatly like crafters and hurts ours just as much. I will bet money that is why macrosare still in game even though the official word is thatmacrosare going.SOE will notchange the macro system enough tomake buffbots impossible.

A Entertainer Sequencing toolbar would allow the current game and macro system to stay as is.

It can also be a roadblock to buffbots requiring the player to be ATK to use it well.

AND give us a feature we have been asking for such as syncing of all the elements of a band performance, dancing with a partner, etc..
