Thread: Becoming a Dancer post CU
So I get myself started on some dancing and get to novice and 0040 reasonably quickly, having fun rediscovering the delights of footloose along the way.
Now I have hit a wall. I can get dancing experience easily even without groupage (I will dance anywhere -- can't keep still
I know I will get there eventually, and the only reason I wanted to get master out of the way was to place a cantina for my guild. I just wanted to share my experiences as a post CU ATK dancer, having been familiar with pre CU dancing, and any suggestions (or news of a change
But for now it is looking a lot like I am spending those skill points on combat and just keeping my funky moves. /cry
I've been trying to help a few new entertainers on my server get the healing xp and it's been quite the battle. I recently started announcing in the Planet Chat that there were live entertainers in X cantina in desperate need of healing XP and asking anyone with BF or in need of an inspiration buff to come to X cantina. I kept the announcement to a minimum - about once every 30 mins to an hour depending upon response. It seemed to make a big difference. A lot of the newer players on Tatooine seem to be monitoring and using the Planet Chat on my server so you might try that on yours as well.
Hang in there. With luck they'll be altering the xp gain soon.
I am located on Bria, and I'll tell you what I can:
Try the areas where the pilot trainers are located at. Especially the advanced ones. You'll find plenty of fatigue-ridden pilots needing your help.
In one of the upcoming publishes they plan to remove battle fatigue, and also any need to gather healing XP for the entertainment professions. You'll only need dance XP. Good enough?
One of the easiest ways to get EH XP now is through the Inspiration buffs - especially the self buffs. Musicians have it a little better than the dancers for this but it can be done either way. If there are no musicians around and you don't mind picking up your slitherhorn and suffering through some SW1, you can write a simple macro that does nothing more than /stoplisten about every 20 seconds or so. As a musician you will automatically /listen to yourself again within about 10 seconds or so after you stop so you don't have to explicitly set this. Even when your own insp. buff tops out, a drain of even 1 second will allow you rebuff to 180 minutes and then top off (the message that you have reached the maximum buff) which is 2 separate ticks of 10 XP each. It doesn't sound like a lot, but it does add up over time which at the Entertainer level can help out a lot. If you're grouped with a musician, then you can go ahead and dance and set up a /listen, /stoplisten macro on the musician. The shared group XP will come back to you. Unfortunately as a dancer, you can't /watch anyone while you're dancing - even yourself. If you don't want to play music and don't have a musician available, then the only way a dancer can generate the same effect is to stop dancing about every 20 seconds and then start again. This is not recommended, however, because it is visually unappealing and won't allow you to practice flourishing very well. Either playing music yourself or listening to a Musician in your group is the best method. Furthermore, if you can group with others doing the same thing, then you can share in the XP and potentially get up to 80 EH XP per tick (which is 10 seconds). Now on top of that, if you can get some audience members to help out by /watching or /listening to the group then you can share another 10 points per tick for each watcher or listener.
Another option is to get one or more friends who don't mind commiting suicide in space repeatedly (one method that doesn't hurt anything valuable is to eject from the vet reward yacht) to generate a lot of BF and come in and let you and your group heal it.
These methods are kinda artificial, but so is the state we're in right now. I hope these tips help.
