Sounds like a bug to me... the only thing I can think of is that you shouldn't come too near to the edge of the stage, but stay to the back, in front of the table with the judges. But I never had that problem when I did the quest (which was months ago though, maybe someone who did it recently could tell you if it worked for them).

Maybe try a different theater? It doesn't matter where you start the quest, and also not where you do the later parts. You can do any part of the quest in any NPC theater.

Some theaters seem to have their stage boundaries drawn strangely...or perhaps it's related to our "too far away" bug & the game can't quite pinpoint the avatar's location. I came across this when I was doing the quests a few weeks back. My suggestion is to stand behind the middle point in the stage. I didn't have any further troubles after I stood so far back. If what you're getting isn't fixed by standing further back on the stage, try some emotes to the judges or audience to see if it helps the server place you properly.

Also, please be sure to /bug this in-game, and let us know if any of this helped!

Another thing you might try is /cough when you get on stage. If you continue to have problems let me know. I'd like to see exactly what's going on as I've not heard of anyone having trouble with this before.
