I'm getting really excited about player cities. I see so many ways they can improve our profession. I'd love to hear what other people are envisioning. I know for one thing if someone wants to work at your cantina they can't just come in and take middle floor walk off and macro all day, they can be banned....That means.....the floor will be clear! For ....like ....a show!!! Yay! Something I'm wondering tho is which cantinas are going to be the most popular in player cities. I hear about alot of player cities being built near hunting grounds. I'm guessing these will get the most traffic? What do you think?

honestly, i'm not too keen so far on the idea of the player cantinas and med centers, though i certainly am excited about cities in general. here's my thoughts on cantinas/med centers

pros-

-doesn't take any of your lots (i think)

-able to register on the world map

cons-

-very expensive

-can't heal medical wounds in a cantina/can't heal mind wounds in a med center

personally, i'd rather just keep my tatooine medium house set up as a cantina. its got a delightful layout, costs much less to maintain each week, and the ability to heal both types of wounds in one building can't be underestimated.

It takes a player owned city to have 50 separate people with each of their own houses as declared residencies to have a shuttleport in the city. How much of a PITA is that. Then the obscene maintenance is a whole 'nother story...

Negatory on that. Unless things have changed in the last couple of days, the player owned cantinas take up a rather large number of lots. If you want to run a cantina (as opposed to a house with a sign that says "cantina") then you'll be sacrificing your lots to do it.

I'm not really enthusiastic about player cities. Well I was, but as a tailor/dancer mostly I like being close to a place where there are people... which will prolly not be the case of player cities for a long time.

I will probably be dancing exclusively in player cities that enforce the no AFK dancers rule.

Like Slick said, they do indeed take up lots.. 7 in fact. (ouch) The med centers only take 4. True you can't heal both mind and medic related wounds in the same place which makes it a little less convinient, but the houses where meant to be a temporary answer to player run cantina's/med centers until player cities went in, and as such more then likely normal houses will no longer heal either. (I'm not certain on that, just the way it sounds to me) All in all I think their pretty cool, the layout could still be better tho imo and they take up too many lots, but that may change before live.

The word now is when cantinas go live they will take up 5 lots not the 6 they have on TC. Maint. currently is 19,600 per week, paid by owner and not the city. And yes a player has to place it so it takes up their lots unlike the city hall which takes up city lots. Alas I am still stuck on the idea of helping run a cantina when our PA gets our city up and running! Call me ambitious or dumb depending on your views. But what the heck it will be fun to at least try for awhile. And yeah I hope I can ban afk people, and hope to recruit some great dancers and musicians on Valcyn to play in the cantina!
