Wow, check this out!

this is from a post I was reading in another forum:

Someone mentioned once that someone he knew mastered weaponsmith in 60 hours. I've previously maintained that by using a macro from SWG(no third party software), one could go from novice WS to master WS in a little over five hours, not including training time. This doesn't include going from novice artisan to novice WS.

AFAIK crafting macros still require you to click, they are just assist macros. You can macro everything but the selecting resources.

Novice -> Master Droid Engineer in under 8 hours at the keys. I imagine I could do that as quickly or more quickly with any elite crafting profession, now that I know the key to it.

What does this have to do with dancing?

I think he is trying to say that other professions can be easily macro-mastered.

Of course, that's if you WANT to do it that way. Some of us actually like the various aspects of the game and savor our characters rather than rushing to Master whatever the profession is, but to each his own.

Besides, the easiest and fastest profession to master is by far Image Designer. Can do it in 5 minutes from novice entertainer to master ID, by my calculations.

A lot of other professions can be AFK macroed, but for some reason that is not obvious to me, dancers are singled out for criticism regarding AFK macros.

Someone please explain that to me.

Because dancing is a social profession, you moron.

ROFL!

Sorry, it's just funny how you can inform someone that the reason for the profession is to interact with people, and at the same time make that person never want to interact with you.

Awesome, only took 8 words!

I have absolutely no desire to talk to someone who doesn't think afk macroing is a problem.

Which, apparently, includes yourself.

Have a nice day.

Heh I was going to post this on its own thread but the crafting professions are SO more easy (timewise) to master over dancer/musician just in the time its taken me to go from Wound healing 2 to wound healing 3 in dancer ive mastered (and dropped) WS, Tailor and DE. For good measure ill probably do all the other crafting professions while grinding out my 2 other ent healing boxes probably image design also - and still have at least another week to go :/

While I may not agree with Siren's approach of calling someone a moron, she is right in one sense. A while back I did a (admittedly informal, totally unscientific) poll on this board under the title, "So why are you all dancers?" Everyone who posted took the bartle test to see what their "mud personality type was", and nearly everyone came out Sxx or xSx (where x = A, K, or E). Meaning that most dancers, at least who post on this board, rank socializing as their #1 or #2 priority. So if we are in the game at least in part to socialize, and if we perceive that AFKers are in one way or another decreasing our ability to do that, then we are likely to be more impacted than, say, a weaponsmith, who doesn't have to really socialize to sell goods -- he just puts them on a vendor. (Mind you, he'd probably make out better if he socialized too, by getting customers to like him, etc, but he doesn't need to as much.)

I bet if you did the same poll on most of the other profession boards, you would not find something like 90% of respondents ranking Socializing as one of their top 2 reasons for playing the game. Oh you would find some, but not as many. And so if the rest of their profession is AFKing and not around to socialize, less of them are likely to care about it or be negatively impacted by it.

Can anyone just answer me this one little thing,. I know why dancers who get upset about afking do...I relate to them. I understand the people who are grinding thru professions on their way to jedi, I don't mind. The ones that have me boggled are the ones who afk the entire profession, reach master and conitnue to afk. Why? I don't get it. I know, I know, it's your 15 bucks and all but could I get any explanation. Is it just the guild extra account because they are so cheap they don't want to tip or somehing? Gah. Been really trying to stay away from these forums, hehe...

First off, using a 3rd party macro IS against the terms of service, and bannable. You cannot compare the two.

Second, as someone said, the weaponsmith is probably alone in their house. If all AFK entertainers did it alone in their house, do you think there'd be an outcry against it? We wouldn't even KNOW about it!

Third, I would argue on behalf of any profession that was marginalized by an easy and AFK way to mastery. Were I a weaponsmith, I'd probably argue against it on their forums. Since I'm a dancer, you all have to deal with me here.
