Im hoping someone here can help me out...

I usually try to get a mind buff every time i go to a cantina.
From what I have read here on the boards, + what people are telling me in game..is that a msater dancer buff should last about 2 hours..

I dont know what I am doing wrong...but I can not get one of these to last for longer than about 30 mins tops.

This is coming from a master dancer using exotic 4, with alot of flourishing, and watching the performance for 8 mins before I /stopwatch.

Am I missing something in the process thats making it not last too long ?

At 1/2 hour its alomst pointless to continue trying for this...

Is it suppose to last longer ?

The way it is now..by the time I get the buff..finish my socializing (2 mins) head to the starport and wait for shuttle (8 mins). Arrive at my destination..pick up two missions..head off towards them about 1k m away (2o mins) By the time im trying to kill the first critter my mind buff is gone...

Maybe this is only usefull for in -town duelings (which I dont do much of)

Any tips, or guidance here will be greatly appreciated =)

First off, the buff thing is a little buggy atm, but they need to /setperformance to you while your watching. After 8 minutes from when they did /setperformance, do a /stopwatch and the buff should last around 2 hours. You will get the full buff at 5 minutes (great for PK when you not gona last more then 10 min), but the extra 3 minutes makes the buff last longer.

So your saying I should watch for MORE than 8 minutes maybe ?

Ive gotten to the point where I am using a timer, and stopping on exactly the 8th minute.And yet im still only enjoying 30 minutes of the buff

actually you get the full buff from watching for 1 second, but the duration is totally tied to the time you watch... at least from my tests.

here is what i have found so far....

if the dancer stops at any time during the performance the buff duration timer is reset to 0.

flourishing and lightshows seem to be interchangeable.

flourishing at the maxiumum rate seems to have little effect on the duration. for example flourishing every 10 seconds and lightshows every few seconds for 5 minutes still only gives around a 45 minute buff.

but watching for 10 minutes straight with 2 or 3 flourishes has given some of my test subjects a 1 hour and 45 minute buff.

in the end, i think the buff duration is random and is chosen when they /stopwatch. it probably falls in categories diived up by the # of flourishes/lightshows in the performance and time watched. usually i just make the people watch me for 10 minutes and flourish when i feel like it.

as for why your buff is wearing off... the only thing i can think of is that the dancer is stopping during the dance because she is running out of action. another question though... are you healing her action yourself? i've seen that do some wacky things. otherwise i dunno.

this really needs to be addressed though because as is this is doing nothing to empower our class. half the dancers i get buffs from don't even know how to apply them, or charge utterly rediculous amounts. so those guys are out there spreading misinformation which i refute, so they go back and tell the other dancer this, who refutes it........ then theres the people who are living 3 patches ago and insist its broken. followed by 80% of the non entertainer population who either don't even know about the buff, think it will bug their stats, or assume they cost 5k. it's a giant pain in the ass.

man that sounds an aweful lot like she's running out of action around 4 minutes into the dance. but i've had other people say they can stop dancing and start again with no affect on the duration. lol.

I have used many different dancers while trying to get this right..

Some of them know the system very well..and give instructions on how it works..
Others I have had to tell them how and what to do ..

The thing is..none of them have every "stopped" mid performance, or ran out of action (Yes every time almost I must heal it if no one else is around)I always watch for a minimum of 8 minutes..

And I have YET to get one that last longer than 30 mins..

try to have them get action buffed first i guess, so you don't have to heal them. they are /setperforming on you right? or are you getting a passive buff from being grouped with them?

otherwise i don't know what to tell you. watch for 16 minutes and see what happens. otherwise chalk it up to a bug.

or stamina buff... whichever

Dance exotic4, flourish once every 2 seconds non stop for 5 minutes and you get the 2 hour buff.

Ok ill try both of those things you suggested, and come back and report my findings.

Two things.

1. are you a commando ?

2. Do you take your armor off for the buff ?

As a master DOC, if I buff comandos, they get a better buff without armor on. Not sure if that's by design, a bug, or just the 20 times or so I did it they got VERY unlucky.

I would say take your armor off next time and see if that helps.

Ok ...here is what I have to report back to this thread ....

These are preliminary findings..


1) watching for 10 mins instead of 8 prolonged the average buff time significantly..3 buffs had an average of an hour and a half each.

2)the buff doubles whatever your current mind is (so eating some food, taking a muon , and using powerboost w/ tka is an easy way to get your buff to over 3k after all downers...)

3)"musician" buffs did not go as well.. (I noticed on 2 differetn buffs , that the stats increased..but never filled...meaning my normal secondaires are 600/600 and 800/800...after the buff it would show 600/1200 and 800/1600...During both musician buffs I was unable to "fill" the missing stats )


In conclusion, it looks like if your worried about buff duration ..make sure you overdo the 8 min minimum.

Also one of the dancers used no specials and a relatively low level dance...and had the highest duration time of all recorded buffs..

It also appears that if your stats have ANY discrpency whatsoever in them
(ie the 400/800 type things with ZERO wounds) That the buff will get muffed somewhere along the line, either not last long, or not register or fill correctly..getting killed before buffing is the only sure way to clear all your bugged stats =(

Unfortuanetly it looks as if a decay on death is coming in the next patch..however this stat bug and food bug things still looms large (since day1 mind you...) So IMHO I believe this stat bugs need fixed ASAP !!

to fix that, either use a tendhealing to get mind/focus wounds, when they will be healed the gap between the base stat and the buffed statwill be filled OR "zone" ( shuttle etc ).

Note : always remove your armor for the musician buff or the focus and willpower stat with encumbrance will be buffed.
