Thread: Insurance, Clothing, Inventory and Dancers

I'm bummed about this decay stuff and insurance costs. I think it makes sense and is fair for most situations. Really there are no penalties for death right now, and thats a bit ridiculous. However, as a Dancer/Doctor who depends on her pistol skills to get by outside of the cantina and medical center, I'm frustrated by the costs and inconviences of the insurance system.

I'm a Master Dancer and I take my job very seriously. I carry several expensive, high quality outfits, many of which have healing bonuses not to mention sentimental value. I feel I need to have several really great outfits in inventory to be able to provide the best entertainment I can for my customers. Unfortunately, if I now must insure these outfits everytime I feel the need to go run combat missions for cash, which I do periodically because lets face it, tips aren't consistent, ent missions are a huge joke and to get badges and participate in other aspects of the game, one must go into combat. Now I'm pretty good with my pistol, but a Twi'lek just wasn't built to be an uber combat survivor, nor are my stats migrated to support that very well. So as you can imagaine, I die frequently. I can see this insurance thing getting a bit expensive if I want to continue carrying my normal selection of outfits when I travel to other planets where I do not have a safety deposit box to leave clothes in while I'm out adventuring.

I already feel limited by ridiculous inventory constraints in this profession. I mean should a pair of hotpants really take up the same amount of space in my inventory as other items like camps, rifles, crafting stations, heavy harvestors or some of the other huge sized bizarre stuff folks carry in thier pants? It seems like I should be able to carry more clothes with less inventory constraint or something. Now adding to that problem, I must insure all my clothes everytime.

Ok, enough whining. I'm just frustrated. I know all professions are going to be feeling the pain from this change, not just the dancers. I just wonder if anyone considered this and thought about making ent missions less assinine. Honestly, I hate spending the majority of my gameplay time trying to scrounge up cash, I prefer to have fun dancing and healing.

Anyone have any ideas for this besides just carrying a few outfits? (I love to change my clothes while I dance, and I really think my customers appreciate it, they're just not all thoughtful enough to tip me with that in mind) Too bad they can't have lockers for the dancers inside the cantina.

Don't forget you have a safety deposit box.

It might not be much, but you could probably store some of your outfits in the bank while you are out running missions. That way, they won't get damaged. While the bank only works on one planet, you could maybe even have a small house on another planet near the cantinas you like.

I agree, carrying around a full dancer wardrobe isn't going to be a good idea anymore. *sighs* I wish it only applied to the things we wear when we die.

Anyone tested if stuff stored in droids decays if the droid is in your datapad upon cloning from death?

I feel exactley the same Noreenf, I usually carry a backpack full of clothes i use to dance in at all times but after 2 deaths and several 4000 credit insurances last night, i stored all but one outfit in my house.

I think personally a much fairer system would be item decay only on what you have equiped or possibly what you have equiped when incapacitated.

As it stands this system simply takes the fun out of clothing.

I agree Fade. I was pretty depressed last night when I went to do a combat mission and I had to store all of my normal clothing in a backpack in the bank. I had had all of my clothes hotkeyed for outfit changes with aliases created so that I could smoke bomb into different clothes. Now I lost all of that. I wish that I could at least keep the clothes hotkeyed even if I can't wear it while it's in the bank.

I too use the hotkeys to change clothes in a hurry. I noticed last night, when I stashed my tarvel pack of clothes in the vault that I lost all the hotkeys on the bar that was displayed, but my other bar with clothing hotkeys, which was not displayed, stayed - when I took the travel pack out of the vault I could use all clothing hotkeys in that bar. I will test it tonight to check if simply displaying another hotkey bar will preserve clothe hotkeys while stashing clothes.

I don't really have a problem with this. My solution is to have one set of 'Hunting clothes', 2 dresses and 1 lekku wrap of the same color, and some shoes and boots, in my inv at all times as my "basic" wardrobe. Those I insure. Total cost of those + my survey equipment = 1600 cr. Not too bad. I put everything else in my travel pack and just dump that into the safe deposit box before I go hunting and pick it back up when it is time to dance.

I can see how hotkeys might be an issue, and since I don't use them I won't speak to that.

Does anyone know if insurance carries over to whever and whenever you next die? So if I insure on Tuesday on Naboo and die on Saturday on Endor...am I insured?

I'm not certain I like the additional death penalty, but if it cuts down on the inappropriate clothing being worn out in the field, especially by female avatars (fleshwraps, bikinis, etc), then it might have its upsides.

Im training TKA also, Normaly Im solo workign on TKA because I do combat to relax <giggle> I still carry all my clothes with me because I never know when the mood to entertain will strike me. I costs 5k to ensure my wardrobe and I gladly pay it. I make more then enough in tips to cover this cost. Of course if I was running low on money I would stash the clothes in a bank vault. I think death needs more sting and clothes need to degrade as we wear them too, but this is certainly a step in the right direction.
