Thread: A Proposition for the Rebirth of All Real Entertainers

Entertainers Unite!!!
Greetings to all entertainers. I have a radical plan I have been contemplating for awhile now. Many in my guild have complained about the depressed state of entertaining in the major cities because of all the afk entertainers and holo-grinders.(Specifically Theed in my guilds case.)
I feel it is time to take back and give a rebirth to all the entertaining professions. I am not meaning for us to bombard the cantina with entertainers, that would do us no good. Give the cantina's to the afk dancers and holo-grinders. We do not need them!
My plan will start in Theed, if it works there then no doubt it can be started in Coronet. I suggest we move from the depression of the Theed Cantina to the plush beautiful settings of the Theed Hotel, behind the Medical Center near the Star Port. There we can heal Battle Fatigue, Mind Wounds, as well as give our Entertainment Buffs. (I have tested this and it works.)

1.We can keep all the entertainers LIVE!! The afk entertainers and holo-grinders need/want to be in large groups for the XP. The way we control this is by having groups for those entertainers that need the XP, Master or not the larger the group the better the xp to help your fellow Live Entertainers. If someone in the group goes afk at anytime they need to stop entertaining if they will return in a few, or leave the group. If that does not happen they are removed from the group. In most cases if they are not getting the xp they want while afk, they WILL go back to the cantina.
2.The former happening it will bring artistry back to our professions. From the choreography of dances and bands playing the music and having singers at the mic. Out of all the people I have spoken to, most all of them said they prefer Live Entertainers—compared to those we will leave in the cantina that beg for heals or invites to groups while they are afk.(So no silly macro's that do that.)
3.Some of us are crafters. With people coming in and out of the Hotel, it will give us more opportunities to make/sell our wares. For example: I am also a Master Tailor, and could make on the spot custom clothing. In the Hotel there is also a NPC kitchen if any of you are chef's. Also this could be a place to find Image Designers having a set place for them to practice there Field of study.(We must not forget our other entertaining elite professions.)
4.And Finally, Hotels offer something that most players in SWG have no knowledge of or understand... Gambling. A part of the star wars universe and in doing this it will also perhaps bring in more business for the Entertainers within the Hotel. Be it just coming in to get healed and /or buffed and trying the gambling tables/machines. To them paying us to stand/dance/entertain next to them to give them luck while they gamble. In this we may start a new facet of SWG, the High Rolling Gamber.
The Layout of the Theed Hotel is as followed:
- Entering the Hotel there is the main greetings area.
- To the left is the Dining and Entertainment room. A stage is placed in the corner of this large room for those Musicians to gather and/or a band. Tables and chairs are scattered though the room where dancers will be placed. As well as the NPC Kitchen in the opposite corner that the stage is in. This is the main area we will do our entertaining.
- To the right in the back there are three private rooms. There, I suggest, is where we preform any of our Entertainment Buffs. For example: the person asks one of us for a Buff, then that person takes him/her to one of these 3 rooms to buff them. So we are not Buffing in the same room we Entertain.(Even though it may be easier, but lets try to make this real.)
- Straight ahead and to the right are the gambling tables/machines.
To make this work there will need a person, perhaps someone with a second account as well as a second computer if they are entertaining as well, to inform not only those that prefer Live Entertainment, but also those entertainers that want to be part of something more than what the cantina can offer. We need to get them to come to the Hotel rather than the Cantina, as well the Hotel is not that far from the Cantina.
Another thought I have is to create a chat channel to help organize this better. If your server doesn't already have a Entertainment Chat Channel.
As you can see I have put in a lot of thought into this. We can give our profession a rebirth and make it FUN again. Doing this will I hope create a party atmosphere and will bring honor/respect to our profession once again. But I cannot do it by myself ofcourse. I need your help.
I have ran this idea by a few people in my Guild on Bria and they like the idea. I thought I would Post it here to get your response and any ideas that you feel i missed.
Please reply tothis appeals to you at all.

This is a great idea Shaymoon. In fact, it was discussed just recently in the following thread:

It would be far easier to just pass the word to all entertainers (at the key types obviously) to all start using any of the other cantinas in the galaxy you play on. Theed and Coronet are where the holotainers train. That leaves an incredible amount of places to choose from... Just make a choice... For instance, Bestine! Ok from now on if you want to find an ATK entertainer go to Bestine and find one cause that's where we all will be. (using of course a location you are sure to see players coming through looking for healing).

That's still one of my favorite cantinas... maybe my solid favorite even. Pictures always turn out nice there. 
On Starsider, there is usually a small afk group there lately... but they are quiet for the most part.
Anyway, I used to go there hoping to get in a group with the SLAVE girls... they were always so nice and I remember getting a big kick out of it when they'dlet me to do the band flourishes. Those girls still know how to boogy! 
Oh, the smaller cantina by the shuttleport is really nice too and almost always empty... it has more of a lounge vibe going on. (it also has that little medical area)

oh I LIKE this idea! I am constantly getting /tells asking me for a buff! WHY didn't I think of having them go to the HOTEL???? Now, the idea is to keep this hush hush from the AFKer dancers...Besides, they don't get XP from my heals and buffs anyway. As soon as someone enters the room I talk, YES, actually TALK to the customers..I am going to try this tonight on Kettemoor. I know several that are entertaining for the thrill of entertaining, and i would gladly GLADLY join with a group if the entertainers were LIVE performers and not AFK..!!! Great idea!!

It's a fantastic idea. I took up the challenge last night with some people in Bestine. The cantina in Bestine (on infinity) is normally ok, but last night it was littered and looked terrible. So I went over to the hotel with some fellow atk'ers and had some great fun. A few mails and a few shouts later, we had an audience as well. It's certainly something we'll be doing again. Though unfortunately I couldn't stay as long as I wanted and had to log off.
As for those afk grinders that follow, you can normally tells those that are, and those that aren't. Quite simply they'll get kicked from the group (if they even get an invite) and won't be getting any healing xp. And we'll know who they are as well then, and won't be welcomed into the group.

Great ideas, especially when it comes to buffing. I am often outside of a starport and get asked for buffs. I'd be more than happy to say "follow me to the theater" instead of "follow me to the cantina." Though, as a dancer, I like to have music playing for me to dance to. Perhaps I need to find a master musician to partner up with. Buffing is at least a good step to start drawing people into places they wouldn't normally go.
If there are any other entertainers in Kettemoor, hopefully a sizable group of at least 6 maybe, I'd love to hook up and start performing in other venues.

A great Idea!
I'm on Ahazi if anyone wants to try getting one together. I get lonely dancing in hotels alone. ... so I end up gambling, hehe. I'm also on Starsider as Irys.

LIVE Entertainment will be trying to put together some jaunts like this in the semi-near future. I'll put you on my list of people to contact when we have plans to do so.
