Thread: True Dancer Buff Times
If I am buffed or have a medic to keep me healed, the quickest I've managed to do a full buff is 3m 30s, but i usually just go 4 minutes, most people seem happy with that. I have gotten my musician buffs down to 2m 30s for a full buff. This is with just doing flourishes and some /dazzle stuff. No crazy exploits.

Just curious as to what kind of times you all have gotten it down to. And if any of you have an AFK macro to buff passivly in a group. If so could you send it to me, via pm please. We are trying to salvage what little greatness there is of dancer left, and this would be a great way.
Thanks in advance all,

ROFLMAO! You say you want to buff people without using an exploit then in the same post ask for an AFK macro to use to buff with? Which part is saving "what little greatness there is left in dancer"... Not buffing someone in less than 30 seconds (which is NOT an exploit) or AFKing a buff?
Um, Niza, you need to learn what the definition of what an exploit is before submitting a post like this.
An exploit is generally using a bug in the game to receive benefits better or faster than was originally intended. The 30 second macro, in my opinion, falls under this definition. What Cookie is talking about is just an AFK macro and, while I don'tapprove of being AFK while buffing, it by itself isn't an exploit.
Yes,an AFK macrodoesn't help "salvage what little greatness there is of dancer left", but it isn't an exploit.
I know very well what an exploit is. I also know that the 30 second buff is not an exploit has not been classified as an exploit and has been in the game now for months. It is how the current buff system works.
Being AFK to buff is not an exploit either, however it does absolutely NOTHING to "salvage what little greatness there is of dancer left" which is the point of my post.
If you anyone is truly interested in bringing greatness to dancer they would be doing everything they could to promote ATK play. Obviously without the ability to craft a portable buff or portable heal a player can't have 24 hour access to an entertainer which is a definate design flaw with our profession. The answer though is NEVER to leave your character logged in and looping though because all that does is devalue our position in the economy... Which currently leaves the sub 30 second buffing our one major advantage over an AFK macrotainer and in most cases the only realistic way for us to make actual income and not just table scraps and panhandling income.
It is not an exploit.

Actually, it's not how the buffing system works, but how the game currently works. It uses a macro and in-game commands to circumvent a limit intentionally set by the game. This limit would not be passable manually or within the intentions of the commands used.Every exploit uses in-game bugs or "how it works right now" to pass limits otherwise impassable. Exploits are classified as such when the bug is fixed. As a dancer I'd say it will be fixed in early 2012I don't think it's as bad as other exploits and I'd rather see 2 of those "exploiters" than a see of AFK zombies, but by the rules of the game ( which I dislike ) it would indeed seem that unattended gameplay is fine, while a 30 second buff is not.
I don't do the 30 sencond mind buff, but I do a 3 min buff. And I know you can do that without a macro. For I have done it and made sure I could. Sure you may need a medic or a buff, but it's do-able. It's not an exploit. I thought it was until I could do it without any sort of macro.

We asked, we asked several times. We post the exact how to without so much as a warning here on the boards without so much as a "hey please stop doing that."
It is not an exploit.
Pistoleers were going to the Geonosian caves and doing Fanshot, doing obscene amounts of damage by counting in the damage done to all targets, include corpses, to every target being fired at.
That's the way the current combat system was working. It didn't make it any less an exploit.
Just because the devs haven't come online and told us that it's an exploit doesn't make it any less one. I find it hard to believe that the devs wanted dancers to do 5 flourishes in a row, stop, 5 more flourishes, stop, over and over, making us look like spaztic institution escape victims.
As for dancing AFK, I already said that it wasn't an exploit. To me it just bad form, not only in dancer but in any profession or action (AFK looting for instance).
Now, once again I'll state that this is my opinion only. I'm not an official at SOE so I can't make the decision that the 30 second macro is an exploit. All I do is look at the the buff system and think of what the devs INTENDED, not what's in place now. Devs are human, they make mistakes, these mistakes are called bugs, using bugs is called exploiting.
Now if you wanna claim the 30 second buff is not an exploit, you are just trying to kid yourself into making what you are doing ok. I guarantee you that Sony wants these buffs to take 4-10 minutes. The quick buff macro is a glaring example of an exploit. Just because Sony has not listed it as such or is not issuing warning for it does not make it no so.
Sony would have a hard time policing an exploit like this, so they don't officially classify it as one, otherwise they would get 200 petitions a day saying so and so is exploiting. I am confident they are gonna fix it somehow one day.
I choose to not use workarounds. YOu choose as you want. But PLEASE don;t come here trying to justify your use of an exploit by claiming it is not one.
