The Afk dancers at the front door these days? Why is going into a main city cantina such a pain in the rear.

Ok I admit to not reading the forums that much or even the website. I started the game b/c my boyfriend was playing and to me it looked very intresting and I was hooked. I'm even using his forum name to post. Trust me I don't normally post at all.

I started myself a little twi'lek dancer last year and was amazed with the social interaction and the fun I had working in cantinas. I had to knock off some play time due to real life circumstances and was not able to play.

When I came back I tried a few other professions to see if I liked them but always loved my dancing. I loved the people I met. I must say I meet most of my in game friends in the cantina and now have a very extensive friends list. Now I'm going back to main city cantinas and it bothers me to no end.

Out of the probably 60 people in the cantina at least 40 of them are afk. The is an estimate in heavy times. First of the lag kills me. Then the spam is seriously out of control. I understand some people who grind afk at night while asleep b/c dancing xp is very hard and boring to get. Trust me I went thru it to get Master Dancer I remember. But it is to the point now. Noone has any respect for the dancers who are in there working hard for tips and trying to sell their buffs.

I know I should probably not rant so much about this. Everyone else probably already has. But is there anyway of stopping this? I love my dancing and love being in heavy area cantinas to help people but I can't go in a cantina without going insane now. Its just becoming not fun to me.

I have more fun going out to a remote area cantina and have people appreciate what I'm doing than being in the heavy areas. It amazed me that I got morepraise and tips on Yavin than in Coronet.

Is it just me or is this out of control? And can we stop it?

Oh my gosh, a thread about AFKers! What a revolutionary idea, no one's done THAT before! And even MORE over-the-top...a thread about the AFKers who park in front of the cantina!

/sarcasm off

I'm sorry, I really had to get that out. Yes, AFKing is a problem within our community. Yes, we're trying our hardest to get it taken care of.

Don't mind the exceptionallack of courtesyof some of the posters HeliosCreed. I guess some people are frustrated to the point of rudeness.

Yes, the AFK macro spam entertaining has reached unimaginable heights due to the search for the Force-Sensitive slot. Most combat players want to get through their entertainer holocron as quickly as possible, and so AFK for 3 weeks straight, spam that they need heals, and crowd the front doors to attract the BF and mind wound patrons.

At this point there is no way to solve this problem. SOE has deemed that this behavior is perfectly acceptable, so we have no choice but to put up with it.

But, as was mentioned, once the Jedi revamp comes along and the hologrind is a thing of the past, I can see alot of the clutter being cleared up.

I look forward to that day

I usually enter cantina's through the back door and always tell my potential customers to meet me in back. It definately helps with the lag and doesn't bum you out first thing when you enter a cantina and see the Zombie Dance Troupe.

Honestly the 'rudeness' is not directed at the poster, but frusteration with the problem.

A lost of us have been Dancing since release, many masters since shortly after. And the AFK started to exist before Holos. We were miffed. We mentioned it. We were ignored and berated.

Release was... what? July? So for about 9 months we've had this issue, we've discussed the issue, we've smashed it to little bits.... and it won't go away.

Does any one remember having a sibling or friend that just HAD to stare at you and poke and poke and poke and poke and poke. or the infamous "I'm not touching you, I'm not touching you..." bit?

No matter HOW patient a person is, eventually they are going to just freaking snap. People like myself and Sirii have had to deal with this AFK thing for months upon months. I know that when it first started I was all nice and sweet about it. Grit my teeth and bear it. I remember Sirii being a lot more relaxed to.

... But now we've snapped. I can understand why Sirii responded the way she did. Ever be in a group of 5 or 6 people... "So, did you see the Dodger game? Yeah, that pitch was so cool!" And 5 minutes later, serious as death one of them says "So, did you see that dodger game..." As if we didn't JUST talk about itandfor all that time he was not even on this planet? A person bringing up the AFK issue as if it is something new is JUST like that. .... again. Very annoying. And a person can only take it for so long.

But anyway, I don't suppose THIS topic's issue is so much the AFK as the sudden conjestion RIGHT in front of the door, which just adds a whole new element to annoy the heck out of us.

LOL, this is SO going to be said if I ever enter an NPC Cantina ever again

And I completely agree with the frustration of AFK entertainers Tekoa. I've been around long enough to see the slow descent of our profession, and it irks me right off as well.

However, I don't think that taking it out on someone who has just started posting on the board is the right way to vent. HeliosCreed admitted that she doesn't post at all, and all that's been done is probably convinced her not to post on this board again.

She had an honest question and she was blasted. Not cool.

Again, BELIEVE ME, I totally understand the frustration. I ban AFK Entertainers from my cantina on a weekl basis, that's how prevalent they've become. I just thinkthe new entertainers shouldn't be scared off because of our frustration, and instead encouraged to not become the mindless zombie that we all see in the doorways.

Just my 2 credits. Don't want to ruffle feathers

*shrug* I say what I think. I'm not one to sugarcoat things and I'm sure not a diplomatic person. I get very tired of seeing the same threads over and over, especially when there's a thread discussing the EXACT same thing two or three posts down. I hope that HeliosCreed realizes I wasn't upset with her for doing that, because I know that sometimes it's hard to realize that, especially when you don't post often. I just get aggravated with that in general. Drives me crazy.

Early on, most entertainers were in the main room of the cantina. It has became apparent though that those who need healed, tend to stop at the first entertainer they find and that means the front room. Large groupd (AFK or not) tend to congregate in the from room to maximaze the healing xp.

It is not AFK people who do this but any person needing healing xp. Same for the group. More people in the group the more healing xp you get. The high percent of your group in the front room the higher your healing xp.
