(Not an "I'm leaving" post, not an afk post, but it's still full of "poor me" sentiment. I couldn't help myself.)
I've been playing an entertainer-turned-dancer since launch, though I did retire my character for awhile in a huff due to the usual reason(s). I became a "master"shortly before player cities went in (Iwas in love with the game backthen and I played a lot), and semi-retired shortly thereafter. I've posted here at the forums off and on about my concerns, occasionally logging in to see if anything had changed, but pretty much checked out for awhile, instead playing a combat character I didn't particularly care for on another server. Since the holocrons are being pulled, I managed to rekindle a spark of hope and I came back thinking I'd place a cantina somewhere, hanging my shingle in a friendly little player city. I went out, bought a deed for a Correlian cantina (my favorite style), and then went about looking for a spot to place it. This is where I ran into trouble.
It seems that every city that qualifies for a cantina already has one. Or two (which I don't understand at all). Since cantinas can only be placed inside cities, the only real option is to hope you find a citywilling to use upits limited public structure slots to have multiple cantinas. In this best case scenario, you'll be the new kid in town with your cantina tacked on haphazardly at the outskirts of town, competing with the established locales. While it's possible to stumble across a player village without a cantinathat hasn't managed to get its name on the map yet, most of these villages are dying or dead, always shuttle-less, and typically located out in the middle of nowhere. This makes life unpleasant for the social dancer.
What I'd really like is the ability to place a cantina like a house or a PA hall, though I suppose I can see the problem with that; given the sheer number of afk-generated masters, there'd be row after row of cantinas just outside Coronet. I really wish I could do it, though. I've been carrying this cantina deed around for a month now, and I've found the perfect place to put it. It's a little stretch of sand on the coastline of Correlia about 1500meast ofDaoba Guerfel. I thought I'd call my cantina "the Sand Bar." No such luck, unfortunately.
It's hard enough finding a city you'd like to live in; good people with similar interests can be downright rare. Finding such a city that happens to want or need a cantina is like trying to find a needle in a haystack the combined size of Correlia, Naboo, Tattooine, Dantooine, Rori, Talus and Lok. I guess I'm just posting out of frustration. I feel that I paid my dues above and beyond just getting a master title, but I've been utterly unable to make use of one of the bigger perks.I really do wish I could drop a roadhouse somewhere. It may not get the traffic a big city cantina would get (which isn't that much anyway, in most cases), but at least I could choose the view from my front door.

Do you have a problem with sharing a cantina? Surely there's a nice enough group of entertainers who already have a cantina that'd be willing to let you join in the fun. If I were you I'd just send a short sweet email to all of the mayors who already have cantinas in their towns and ask if the owner of the cantina would mind if you joined into part of the crew. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you, good luck though!

Also Me'aja, it's very possible that there's a city out there that has a cantina, but the owner is no longer a Dancer, as happened to me. Our city's cantina owner quit being a dancer and wanted her slots back. Being an aspiring Dancer, I took ownership of her cantina.
So, when sending out friendly emails to the mayors, ask for the names of cantina owners as well that may be willing to transfer ownership to you.
And transferring ownership is easy btw. No need to pull up the cantina and replace it. All that needs to be done is for you and the existing owner to be in the cantina. Then, the owner types /transferstructure <your name> I believe. Something like that.
Good luck ![]()
