After being new to the boards, but not a new player at all(if you have seen me post before please let me know when you read this) i have recognized that dancers are more mistreated then people attest too. If you check some of the other profession boards, or ask people questions about what they think about the dancer profession or how they should be treated, they simply say that dancers are just there. There is no real work to the dancer profession, they just make a macro, and away they go. That saddens me, for the simple fact that not all dancers go afk, there are those that simply do it that hard way, and work their butts so hard to get where they are. Why should all be dancers be classified as afk people. They arent. Also dancers need to be tipped more often than they are. Last of all, i've had it with the way that men treat the female dancers. They treat them like they are sl*ts, when they arent. The excuse ive heard most men fall back on, is that they dress like wh**es, so we treat them like that. I know that a lot of dancers dress the way they do, to try new things, see what the new outfit is like, or to get people to watch them, not to be treated like an object. They needed to be treated with respect, and also be tipped rightfully. I stick by the hard working dancers, i will tip them myself, and my mind is practically set on try out their profession. I'll be here for all of you, and i assure you that i will try to keep those other men in line. What do you think?

Paragraphs girl!

But you are wrong. Any good combat toon knows the value of a good mind buff.

You take the actions of a few, hmmm, perhaps many, and apply it to everyone. I value the abilities of the entertainers.

BUT, you must realize it is one of the few profs that can be mastered without effort. This will always breed resentment.

And no, I did not go thru all AFK, I did all 4 entertainer profs.. in 6 days, at the keyboard most of the way.

First of all, i hate to do it, but i laugh at you. You were at the keyboard MOST of the way. Sure you could master it in six days, but there is still work involved, and credit to be given, thats six days of skillin it up, and six days of service gone mostly unrewarded. The dancers need more appreciation given to them, and are definitely not getting it. Just becuase you made it in six days, does not mean that all dancers make it in six days.

If they're going to resent those who truly do the profession without effort...fine. I won't stop them, though I disagree.

If I ever hear a bad word about "all entertainers" putting no effort in, they're be hell to pay.

There is NOTHING greater in the SWG world than seeing someone put together a truly amazing band or dance troupe using the tools the DEVS have given us. That takes effort, moxy, and an intelligence that is seldom found in other professions. Besides, the possibilities are limitless - I know a group of people working on an honest-to-God play on Intrepid. She's not an Entertainer, but it's people like that we would gladly adopt as Honorary Entertainers. We're all in this together - good Entertainers, stand up on your hind legs and be heard!

I can say that the SOLE reason dancers are mistreated has to do with the prevalence of AFK entertainment. Because if we were ever mistreated in the past, we could just walk away and deny the cantina our services. Now, walking away does no good. The jerks simply get what they need from a bot. As long as jerks can be jerks and not suffer any consequences, then we will not only have jerks achieve great rewards, but actually promote jerky behavior.

Not only that, but an entirely new generation of players has come about with little or no interaction with live players in the cantina. To them, entertainers are simply machines, not characters that have the dignity of somebody live on the other end. Thus, when one DOES go live, they are simply treated as a machine as well, and not only that, but a machine that just is a nuciance if it tries to be more than a machine, andcan just as easily bereplacedby another. I swear, with the kinds of new players running around, you'd think they'd respect their new blaser more than other people.

Buffbots and unattended grinders give everyill-intended mantheir perfect lust toy: A woman that will remain utterly silent and not complain, fight, or sue if groped, molested, or degraded in any way. How can they when they are not there to witness the degredation?

Ok, I am not dancer but I am a M. Doc/TKM and I thought you might like to hear some thought form the other side.

1. I feel for dancers, at least the non-AFK ones. Most anyone does. I talk to a lot of people and they all have the greatest respect for non-AFK dancer. I even have a nice 3.5 hr action buff that I give to dancers for free.

2. Other than Doc's you most likely get the most grief of any other prof. Why? becuase you have to deal with the public to get paid. In real life the more you have to work with the public the more you run into jerks. It is a simple law of averages.

3. As a M. Doc I have buffed over 1500 people. As such I have seen the good, bad and ugly with players. Please realize thatvast majority of your customers are nice people. However, it only take one jerk to get you all worked up.

4. Dealing with all the spam in the cantina. God, I feel for you there. I pray that the newJedi system makes it better for you. No more holo grinders. In the mean time as a prof you could try to talk to people about increasing pause time in their macro to slow the spam down a bit.

5. Like doc's you live by your reputation. Most folks I know have a list of dancers and when they need a heal or a mind buff they run into a cantina and use /target playersname. Get to know your customers and they will get to know your. You know this but I thought I would add it anyway.

6. Entertaining is the only prof that can be mastered while AFK. Some might take a bit of offense to that but then they don't see the flip side to it. The profession can only be mastered with the aid of other people. If no one else is around then the dancer gets no xp. Other prof are more self relient. A combat class can master even faster becuase they can always go kill stuff. Sure they can't be AFK but there is always stuff to kill. As a result it is much faster for a power gamer to master a combat class than a entertainer. The med prof is the only other prof that requires others to get xp and there are exploits such as tumbling that help a lot there. Crafting prof is even easier since all you have to do is sit and click your craft macro. Just keep these thing in the back of your head the next time someone gives you grief.

7. If someone treats you poorly just /report, /ignore. It is simple and quick. Doc's have to do it all the time. The faster you /ignore the less stress you will build up.

8. Many of us have chosen to simply ignore AFK dancers. They are simple NPC's. Nothing personal but I would much rather give my xp to a non-AFK person and to tip them as well. The only AFK dancer most will watch is when there are no non-AFK dancers around.

Ok, I will stop ranting.

Dancing is a difficult profession in a lot of ways. The principal service you offer--healing mind wounds and battle fatigue--cannot as a practical matter even be a dependable source of income.Almost anyone can walk into a busy cantina and get all they want of for free. They can get it from someone afk even if they cannot get it from you directly. Sure there are some great people who are incredibly generous, but they are by no means a majority. Most players do not even seem to want to be in canitnas and certainly do not want to pay for the privilege.

Even as buffers, entertainers are deficient. It takes two classes of entertainer to fully buff mind. There is no useable means of controlling what buff the person gets (no timer, no system message, no indication of buff duration or power no message to the recipient). Buffs just take too long to administer (putting aside the 30sec macro).Truly, it would be better if there were an offer/acceptance mechanism of some sort, and the result of buffing was more predictable.

So what is you greatest asset if you dance? It is interacting with others. Most players seem to view the time they have to spend on buffing, mind health and battle fatigue to be deadly dull downtime. Your best chance for enjoyment (and income) is interacting with them. People who are waiting out their wounds or fatigue are usually bored (especially if they are alone), and making that time more pleasant for them really is what you have to enjoy (at least in my opinion) to want to dance full time. And interacting with people means you get the good ones and the bad ones. And the bad ones really stand out in your mind because they can cancel out a whole string of good ones, and the bad ones seem to have a special persistance that only true sociopaths seem able to call on.

And there is another insidious enemy if you are a dancer. Interacting with people means that youneed to get their attention. Getting that attention means that you areprojecting something about yourself, be it what yousay, what you do, who you are or how you dress. And you are competing with your peers when you do it, because if there is anything we dancers are it is attention hogs. It can be a little deflating when no one cares, they only care about the "competiition, or worse yet patrons snub or insult you for who you are, what you do or what yousay.

Marrow,

It's the people like you who I know are still out there that make it all worthwhile. Thank you.

hmm.. ok my problem is this.. tomany AFK entertiners.

oh i have some regular people already. and ifi see someone watching me i will buff them weithr they ask or not.. becuase i can. but yes people would rahter watch the AFK buff btos so they dont have to tip. sadly span is everywhere also and often yelled by those AFK.

20 peolpe in a room 15 are asking for tip (most poeple know to tip dancers) on a maybe 30 second macro thats alot of people begging for money when they are AFK and that is how i see it. they are not there trying differnet moves or flurishes.. some dont even bother to flouish but yell out for tips and heals.

i know not everyione is AFK but sometimes it is really ahrd to not find an AFK dancer to watch... crtl-p and disable the AFk and you no long know which dancer is really there and which one is a bot so to speak.

hm guys everystop to think some of the women dress the way they do to get people to look at them?

but there is a wonderful thing for those that harrass you.. something far better then ignore....

/denyservice <name> if you put them ignore they can still watch you still get the benifts of watching you and in the end still do whatever they want only thing is you dont know it.. deny service.. and they can watch you all night and never get "healed" put them ignore or not but something to that that is nice when you know they are not getting anything form you.

anyways there is my two cents.. /denyservice.. get your real revenge that way...
