According to one of TH's replies, the signup process for the corr-chosen-5 would be initiated on SOE's end, actually. Unless I misinterpreted what he said.
*goes to find that post again*

Yes, from ones of the many replies TH makes in this post:

question: if you have been told by a correspondent that you are in, do you need to fill out the beta form?

If you are on their top 5 list, you should be getting the invite soon - - you will still have to register and sign the NDA, but we'll activate it on this end.

Actually, thats next on my list of things to do.

heh, I don't see any discrepancy between what I said and what he said... we both mean that you still need to sign the NDA (and you do that by "signing up" for the CU beta) before they'll let you in.

Uh... did someone just try to say Pappi was wrong? *takes cover*

Pappi is a Pol and a Dancer... she is never wrong! It's all either creative license or political maneuvering.

Why would a female want to cut out a male's tongue? It's way too useful.

Eeep.
I think I'll claim simple male stupidity, and retract my statements.
I offer my tongue's service as means of atoning for my sins of even implying wrongness in the almighty Pappi.

Posted this in thread that Panthu linked to. I suggest folks get in there and vocalize our side of Combat. We are most definitely an important part of Combat, so let 'em know how you'd like to help Combat folks better. Plus, we get to push our own agendaa bit, haha.

Thunderheart wrote:

This is a great question - - the balance portion is allabout making sure everyone has an active role that is satisfying. Taking part in combatshould beengaging and everyone involvedshould beenjoying the experience.

I'm glad you said that, Thunderheart.

I would like to remind you and the Devs (though I'm pretty sure I don't have to)that Dancers and Musicians are a huge part of Combat, with our buffing and healing abilities. Any Combat person will tell you how valuable Entertainers are - whether they like having to go to them or not is another issue entirely.

Since you say, and I quote, "everyone involved should be enjoying the experience," I would like to express my views on how to make theCantina experience more enjoyable for both the Entertainer AND the Combat player.

In no particular order:

1. Dancer and Musician buffs can't be applied at the same time. This has remained broken for quite awhile, and we've been told it was not intended. Fix this, and shave off 1/2 the time a Combat person needs to mess with a Cantina visit(they are, of course, always welcome to stay and hang out, and talk to folks haha).

2. Give Dancers and Musicians a reliable buffing interface, so that Entertainer buffs are A) more reliable and predictable and B) more accessible to both the Entertainer and the Combat player. This interface should provide the following details:

i. The current strength/duration of the buff being applied, if one were to /stopwatch or /stoplisten at that very moment .

ii. Whether the Combat player is listening or watching the Entertainer (weapons shield this fact from our view - no clapping).

iii. A means of "speed buffing" with a penalty to the Entertainer's HAM in some way, but will fully buff very very fast (just a wish).

iv. A system message for Musicians stating, "You enhance Thunderheart's Focus and Willpower by 900." We have no way to tell if we buff someone right now (can't see their secondaries, have to "trust" them - hahahahahahaha...ummm yeah).

v. A system message for Dancers stating, "You enhance Thunderheart's Mind by 1100." Only fair.

vi. A secure payment feature, to require payment by the patron for services rendered (like the ID interface).

vii. The default button on this buffing interface should be "Cancel" - no /ui action DefaultButton AFK stuff for this interface.

If you make a reliable, predictable means of getting a buff, it will streamline the Cantina experience for both Dancer/Musician AND Combat player.

3. Fix the /register command - let Combat folks find us!!!!! It's their biggest complaint - all cantinas appear staffed with a Master Dancer or Master Musician, even when they're not. This is a major issue.

4. Increase Entertainer mission payouts - they're ridiculously low. A newbie player starting the game gets more money than we do from a mission (1,000 credits versus 400 or so from an Entertainer mission). Entertainers need a reliable source of income - tipping is sporadic at best. It's impossible to know you can support a house or even some new armor when you're forced to pray to the SWG gods that the next Cantina patron will actually tip you. I can't imagine this would be so hard, and what greater concern regarding the game should there be than a group of professions, representing a playstyle, that can't support themselves financially? As Combat folks need Entertainers, the Entertainers need to be able to make a decent living on their OWN terms.

5. Lower the xp requirement for Dancer/Musician skill boxes. It is a major factor in people delving into the AFK macrotainer world.

6. Make Entertaining more engaging. Make mini-games patrons can play against Entertainers. Let there be server high-score boards, for bragging rights. Let people host Sabaac games at the white tables in Cantinas. Something to make people enjoy their Cantina experience more, while getting healed up and/or buffed.

7. Please, pretty pretty please, remove the %TT from the message "You direct your performance to %TT." It makes the game look so very unpolished and it's immersion-breaking, no doubt.

Pretty much all of those things (with maybe a couple exceptions) would do great things to improve the Cantina experience, and it would improve Entertainer and Combat player interaction. I honestly feel it is just as much of an important factor in Combat as that trusty Carbine, T-21, or Vibroknuckler. Entertainers love to help Combat players out (that's why we continue to do it, despite certain unpleasant complications in-game right now) and we want more at our disposal to help them out better, faster, and more reliably.

We also want people to find live Entertainers willing to help - so please fix /register.

Thanks for your time, anxiously awaiting these changes to help out Combat players better!

EDIT: I would very much love to hear your opinions on these ideas, and the opinions of the Dev team. Entertainers would also appreciate knowing what the Devs' vision is for us in the future, and how we fit into all this, so that we may form our ideas around your core vision and help you folks as best we can with direction/feedback. Thanks again.

Should I be expecting an account key soon, or have they been sent? (I don't have one.)
