I just had an idea which I would like to share with all of you, maybe you like it, maybe you don't. I just read about skill tapes once more and thought they don't fit dancers very much, I mean in order to use many you have to wear many clothes, but I you get people much more exited with a leotard than with a skirt, a shirt, a belt, and a coat, so I was just thinking since in our business the looks are very important, how about getting Image Designers and Dancers a little closer together. The idea is that IDs could enhance the buffs we give by "pepping up" our looks (something like a buff itself that works for the next... say 30 buffs we give). This could make our buffs last up to 3 hours and give maybe a 150% buff at highest lvl.
So since most IDs are with their entertainer friends mostly anyway, I'm sure we could find some "pep up" our looks, but it may be difficult for buff bots. ID is a hell of a grind now, so they would probably look for an ID instead of grinding it and this might already too much work for people who never play these chars. They would probably still be around but while the casual buffbot will only be able to give a 2 hour 100% buff, the live entertainers might be able to give a 3 hour 150% buff, and that's quite a difference. If they find something similar for musicians, this might help getting people back to live entertainers.
So, what do you think?

I think this is an idea worth exploring maybe.
It would benefit me as a master ID and as a master dancer ![]()
My only concern is that 'looking good' is so subjective, and who is to say what is to be considered attractive ?
We all have a total minger entertainer on every server that gets a lot of attention/money/experience because they look terrible too.

It doesn't have to be something that makes you look different, mabye it's just some kind of glowing while you buff or something like that.

Hm.
Honestly I like anything that encourages people to NOT wear leotards and fleshwraps.
I was very disappointed that the jabba loot was another leotard, it's a horrible image to put forth as the "right" way to dress as a dancer.
There is so much variety out there in clothing, so many pretty dresses, skirts, pants and shirts. Being able to pick what you like to put skill tapes in instead of being forced to wear....well, trashy clothing all the time great. We need more of that instead of people always playing to the lowest physical levels of "less clothing is better" to generate tips.
And no, I'm not bashing people who wear leotards. I wear one sometimes, but just very rarely, and I understand why people are reluctant to go without the bonuses a jabba leotard gives. But I think leotards/fleshwraps/etc. should be "used with caution," so to speak.
Otherwise what are we really selling? Friendly heals and buffs? Or ourselves?

Well 80 views and only two replies, I guess the idea is not very popular.

I only really use my leotards for buffing since they are enhanced, but I get tipped way more when I am wearing a skirt and top than when I am wearing a leotard...
.... except that one time when my guild and I were dancing naked in the MO ![]()

I have a twi dancer/musican, with one of those leotards for buffing.
However, since she turned into a smurf she's been wearing a revealing fleshwrap that matches her skin. It's slightly darker than her skin, but it's a really cool look. I've gotten more good comments about that then any other outfit i've worn.
And since she was raised by crazed durni's, no one messes with her.

I think a lot of dancers start out thinking that showing a lot of skin will get them more in the way of tips. That's just a really common thing that I've observed. Many grow out of that phase, some do not. Others still came in intending to be more of an... exotic, dancer.
I've always found though that the advice of the first Master Dancer I met in game has held true. "Go extremely classy... if you look like you have money, you'll make even more." And that's proven true for me, and a few other younger dancers that I shared that advice with. I've also had a very, very small percentage of players hassle me in game; I think I could count the number of times on the fingers of one hand. And the times that it has happened, you'd be surprised how many other players stepped in to grief the griefer... thanks, boys!
There is a difference. If you present yourself as a lady, you tend to be treated that way. Present yourself as a tramp, guess what? That's the reaction one tends to get.
It's all a choice.

I have to agree with that. I rarely wear the more revealing things in the public cantinas. I think I've been 'hit on' once or twice in my year plus here, and usually one of my regulars will put the guy in his place pretty quickly.
I also tend to make the clothing fit the style of dance. Basic one in the slave skirt or a flesh wrap just looks... stupid. Save the flesh wraps and leotards for the dances they should be worn with. There's plenty of awesome looking clothes out there, and I suspect that once you've seen one wrap, you've seen them all. DIFFERENT attracts attention. If 30 dancers are spamming the cantina for tips and heals, and wearing fleshwraps, and you're in a grand ball gown, or a funky outfit, and speak with the customers individually, you will get better tips. Be special, make your customers feel special.

I strongly support you on this matter.
But actually it is about people, not dresses. As a tailor, revealing dresses are most sold even they have stats or not. Exotic Leotards, hot pants, fleshwraps, new leia's skirt... Problem is people don't come here just to play game. They like to see them naked, sick satisfaction method but true.
You have no idea how many times I've been asked to make dresses exactly matching color of their skin color to show them "naked" . People even wears them in combat geez. Composite helmet, composite biceps and bracers but leotard under. Or Composite set with hotpants. or Just cloaks or gunmans duster with skin color matching hotpants..
They probably think they look cool, sex.y or good.. But they are seen nothing but like certain ancient and oldest RL proffession.
Those kind of dresses place should be nowhere but cantinas in Star Wars Spirit while skill animation at all but dont we see people in cantinas making out or merchandising themselves (not as dancer or musicians)
But ofcourse it is a true fact, that people enjoy seeing others revelead as in RL habits. Not many people care of dances / how it has been performed / how good sync between dancers and musicians.. They come there to heal themselves and just watch whoever is most naked.
