Thanks to Javy, Goldi, Milly, and Esh for joining in on the fun at the Lucky Despot on Bria last night. It was a great time! Sorry I wasn't around much by the time Esh got there
There was a squadron forming in the Starsider galaxy, and we had to teach some punk-*ss Black Suns the meaning of the word respect. So I had to run.
I really had a great time in there! It's a neat place, I made 5k at the Jubilee Wheel, and people were really enjoying the show. Milly and I were quite a hit! People loved the fact that we were performing on that little stage. The occasional jump off the stage and moshing kept the weary pilots engaged
I think the Lucky Despot is a great place to hang out. It's usually uninhabited, and there's a rather consistent flow of people in and out of there for the privateer missions. And most pilots are more than happy to chill for awhile and get their battle fatigue healed up.
Here's a quick rundown of an idea I had:
What is it that keeps people going to buffbots/AFK'ers? Consistency and reliability. They always know they can go to one place and get a buff or just get some healing. Well, the scope of convenient places to get buffed/healed has increased dramatically with space travel. Now, rather than for the pure convenience of a location like Coronet (big travel hub), a pilot can go wherever he/she chooses. Stopping at the Tatooine Space Station and landing in Mos Eisley takes no more effort than going to Corellia and landing in Coronet. Heck, you can even travel straight to it with the Travel option.
What am I getting at?
I think it'd be cool to make the Lucky Despot, onevery server, an unofficial ATK cantina. Bots won't really have any need to be there, since you won't get the mad xp of Theed or Coronet, and the patrons trickle in sporadically. But, the place itself is really neat, there's a little stage and everything, andit can become a hotspot for pilots to stop off in and chill. The key is, we need to combat the AFK'ers by always getting something going in the Lucky Despot. Get your cantina friends to migrate there. Get your Merchant friends to advertise for you at starports using their droids. Make a schedule, keep it, and advertise it. Monday Wednesday Friday 7 to 9, or whatever. Just advertise and be there!
It's not the typical drab cantina venue. Visually it's just cool looking, and there's gambling and everything. There's actually a great lounge feel to it.
Anyhow, something to ponder. I'm going to be frequenting it just because I had so much fun with everyone last night on Bria. So, thanks for a great time, folks! And we should party it up in the Lucky Despot. Seriously. That place shouldn't be empty - it's too cool. The people who stop really want to chill a bit and talk - last night seemed like "back in the day" before everyone started hurrying everywhere. I actually got some great tips! Someone gave me a Scyk light hutt fighter blueprint for a tip, because I mentioned I was a broke Entertainer!

It is a very cool cantina to perform in. stage and casino. neutral pilots have a mission in there too so there's some traffic in and out.
I got to pet Warryyr.. tee hee!

Sounds like a great idea.
I don't play an entertainer, but if ATK entertainers were to start showing up at the Lucky Despot, I'd go there. (especially since our PA hall on Kauri is only 1km away). I'd rather stand around for 5-10 minutes watching an ATK novice entertainer heal my BF/wounds than get it done by AFKers. Incidentally, I've always wished entertainers would hang out in the big Theater in coronet rather than the cantina.

Oh, I've spent hours dancing in there with good friends now that it's started to have some traffic. Sneg the Hand is mah boy! AndI simply love surprising the visitors.
"Wow, this has to be a first! An entertainer in the Lucky Despot! I've never seen one here before!"
And there's something about the atmosphere that really facilitates role-play and in-character conversation. I've had SO much fun talking about my junker of a ship, the curvacious Lady Valarian (you'd understand if you've seen her
), and random topics from bounties to the importance of climate controlled environments on Tatooine.
There aren't any downsides to the place! You have both factions coming in to do the neutral missions, no buffbots or 1337 buff-requesters, and a lugjack machine right next to the entrance! Iline seems to think that the on-stage lighting leaves a bit to be desired, but I'm fine with it

One thing that JTL did manage to do was spread people out into the other cities that had become ghost towns. Probably one of the best places to pick up healing XP is the Mos Espa cantina, as the Tier 1 Rebel pilot trainer for the Tatooine track is located in the back room. So, if you park yourself in front of the bar, people have to pass you to get to the trainer, and if they see you and have wounds, they'll generally stop.
