no its a bug, i've seen it happen in a PC cantina as well
Interesting, were you grouped with a Master Musician? Was there one in the room?

I dunno... one night, someone got a master musician buff, full 2 hours, while listening to me play, ungrouped, and un-setperformed. And I'm only a 0 0 3 0 Musician...

Yes, I was grouped with and playing Western with famousFATWOOKIE in an otherwise emptyplayer cantina at the time. None of the other band members hadsetperformed, we asked at the time while trying to figure out why the other player received the buff while listening to me. The buff recipient is an alt of another very knowledgableFFWB master musician, so it's unlikely to be confusion on the part of the listener either. Nor had the buff recipient recalled being in another group with master musicians earlier in the evening. There was the possibility that he could have received a previous passive buff which didn't trigger until much later with the /stoplisten from listening to me, but that apparently wasn't the case either.
At the time, we ran through question and answers with all of the musicians present and the buff recipient, and thought perhaps it was a bug with Western. Now it appears to be a bug with all types of entertainer buffs, and not based on a particular song or dance. We thusfar haven't been able to determine what might be causing it, so it's very difficult to attempt to reproduce.

It's also possible that this was a 'delayed' buff from before, where you go through the process that would get you buffed but don't /stopwatch or /stoplisten, then leave the area while the entertainer stops entertaining (and thus not triggering the 'you are too far to watch/listen' code). You can then /stopwatch or /stoplisten at any time to trigger the buff (or activate it with the 'you are too far..' code as seemed to have happened this time).
There's another variant of that. If you don't get the buff (Stopped listening too quick or already had a buff) and another buff is applied, it won't take even if you stop listening/watching. Then if you watch any entertainer (Of the same type as the buff I believe) for 2 minutes, you get the buff. You could watch a novice entertainer shuffling back and forth on basic for 2 minutes and it would be enough.
