i love that the exotics have a more fleshed out flourish pallette now, but at the same time, i'm sad and slightly irritated. all four dances use the same eight flourishes now, and they're all on the same numbers. this hurts my performance. i used to string flo 3 of exotic 3 and /changed exotic 4 and it would turn into one continuous beautiful flourish, now it just completes the flo and at the endi go into dancing exotic 4. the same for going from exotic 2 to 3. the only thing that saves me is the transitions to tumble, formal, and lyrical (and the transition from lyrical back to exotic4 is now rather bland). ok enough griping. i should really spend some time here in the dancer forums again. it's been too long since i really spent any time here. will you have me back?

I'm not too happy about the loss of mixing either. I suggested mixing up the flos for E3 & E4 to a combination that I think would give the best options for mixing, plus allow flo 7 to be used in some really nice ways. So far the feedback I've gotten from players on that is that they would prefer to be able to change from one base to the next seemlessly by using /changed during the flo rather than mixing different flos with changed to make it appear that we've more flos than we have. (I'll edit in below my suggested order as soon as I find where it went).

Exotic3 = 3,4,7,5,6,1,2,8

Exotic4 = 5,6,1,2,7,3,4,8

I still say give us the ability to make our own, even if we have to buy a new program to do it...

Intelectual property rights' issues would probalby prevent it. Just as it does Musician composed music.

Actually I like the way you can switch the dance nowduring a flourish. Makes exotic be a single dance with 3 alternate base dances (not counting exotic3).

It could still be possible. They could leave 2 flos in same number with all exotics and reshuffle the rest. That way we could use those 2 flos for dance transition but still be able to play around with rest of the flos. Too early in the morning but I think something like that could possibly satisfy both sides … no?

Well I can see how if you did /changedance while in mid-flo to change flourishes this change would be annoying.

Frankly, I hardly ever do that. What I usually do is try to time it so that just as flourish X ends, my dancer starts on flourish Y, with little or no base dance in between on most dances. (This is to prevent drift, though for some dances, notably tumble, it flat out does not work.)

From THAT perspective, them having the same flourishes and different base dances is a god-send beacuse I don't have to keep switching between exotic dances to get new flourishes. See the problem is, even if you have it timed right, swapping between base dances to get different flourishes as you finish one flo and start another makes your character's movement "hiccup" (only way I can describe it). That is, Dejah would finish flo 1 of exotic2, do 1/5th of a second turn into exotic 2, then having switched to exotic 3, instantly change facing 50 degrees or something... it looked like she was spastic.

Since the flourishes are all the same now (as is true with every other dance) I can string flourishes together with my preferred base dance (exotic3 in this case, since that's my fave) and not worry about the need to keep doing /changedance every time I want a new flourish, along with the accompanying "hiccups" of the toon.

So I guess this one really depends on playstyle. If you relied on changing the dance in mid-flo, you're unhappy, but if you wanted a more traditional scheme for exotic (I did), you're happy.

The main issue I had with exotic was it didn't work like any of the other dances, so none of my 'tricks' to make the other dances work, made exotic work. I prefer consistency.

I have to agree with Chessak. All the dance style have the same flourishes with different base dances, I have found this actually make mixing easier for the exotic dances. In the past I always had to use the 'giggle-wiggle' to change from dance to dance. I have all my changedances on a toolbar so I can switch quickly, this just makes it easier.

No, this is not so and no dev has ever said this about dance. Music is different because it is a huge industry with lots of lawyers that love to sue.

Dance animations are safe from this. Just one of the many many many ways dance and music need to be handled differently in this game.

Anyway, I want my Exotic mixing back too, but I hope it can happen by giving us access to all known flos from any base dance so we will not be restricted by matching numbers. Currently, flos can only be mixxed with their same number in another style: 7's can only be mixed with 7's, 2's can only be mixed with 2's, and so on.

Many combinations would look great and are currently not available because they happen to fall on a different number order, which is completely arbritary btw. This is a player discovered tool and one many of us enjoy. If the Devs are going to start recognizing and supporting this, then they should take it as an opportunity to improve us.

They should give us access to all flos that we know no matter which idle animationwe are executing by changing the command to take a dance name: /flo 4 Exotic and /bandflourish 6 Basic. Doing this makes it make sense for all flos to be the same no matter what level of the style.

This would be an easyway togreatly improve our performance ability with out having to add any new animations to the game. It's a win for the Devs and us.

Then what if we could do /changed popular2 3 to mean change to dance popular2 and execute flourish 3.
