Thread: Dancers income

Well, first I want to say that I don't think that being a dancer is now useless, I love to be a dancer.... and maybe now even more because I made it today to master dancer.

But before last pub, I had nice income with healing bf (per week from 20.000 credits to a top of 205.000 credits). Last days I had a total of 2.000 credits income.

So I was curious how other dancers now make their income. Some tips about this would be welcome. Being a dancer is expensive.... all those new clothes one has to buy ^^.

Thank you in advance.

In the current system your best bet would be to start playing out of group take two missions at a time from the ent mission term (coronet ha a term just outside the front door) to that cantina. *After 10 mins of straight dance you'll get 2k+ so figure 10k an hour you dance (you'll waste a little time each hour refreshing the term to get the right mission. if you play 10 hours a week this will give you a steady 100k per week (20 hours = 200k etc etc).

*Tips and RP income not included.

Hmm... I see what you mean.

But 10 hours only doing rather dull dance missions (10 minutes dancing without public is dull in my opinion). Now if those missions where more fun to do.. more interaction with NPC's, more different tasks (like proforming a certain set of flourishes and things like that).

Before I chatted with the people around me... specially those that watched me (healing their bf). Changed clothes in a puff of smoke... played with light effects... changed dancing style... *that* is entertaining in my opinion and fun to do.

And because it was fun and very useful to them, they tipped me...

Now... not anymore. But that is just my experience. I hope for others it is different.

The missions aren't dull if you do them in a live group, or do them along with whatever other fun stuff you're doing. They run in the background and payoff every 10 minutes. I have a hunting alt, and the lair hunting missions are just as repetitive as the entertainer ones. YOU have to make them fun.

If you still can't stomach the idea of doing entertainer missions, try selling the props as decorations on the bazaar, or dancing outside a busy starport and chatting with people there. Find some entertainer friends and put together some synchronized shows outside where people can see you. Advertise a show on your server forum. The people who still like such things will come, and I bet they will tip.

It seems to depend on your server. I'm actually making the same amount of money on Gorath that I was before, but I'm making *more* money on Kettemoor.

I haven't changed anything. On Gorath, half my pay comes from being in a band and half comes from tips in the Cantina. Of course, I tend to hang out in dead cantinas a lot, as people are happy to come by for an Insp buff and general chatter if you are there on a regular basis.

Kette...I only do cantina work. I made 1 million credits the other night as a tip for being a hawt Rodian ATK performer. From another Rodian, of course.

I have had very few tips lately. I have had very few patrons with the end of BF. What bothers me more is, of the few tips I had, several of them were "pity" tips -- people tipping me out of pity for the fact that they don't see my character as being useful anymore, and they feel sorry for the poor dancer who is still trying to make a living with nothing valuable to "sell" anymore. I don't need the money -- a rich friend gave me 20 mil when he left the game, and I have over 13 mil of it left. So I'd rather just not get tips at all then get pity ones....

/sigh

I make my money by finding good buys on various bazaars/vendors and then reselling them on the public bazaar. This of course limits me to a top sale of 20k as I do not have a vendor of my own.

Honeewoo, life on Kett is kinda a deviation from the norm. We are a smaller server population wise and very big into RP appreciation, even our dewds will attempt RP if you give em a chance. The asshats won't...buthey, why would you wanna RP with em anyway?

To answer the question though, I have found the same results as Honeewoo, but like I said, Kett is a whole different beast.

I have found a couple unique ways to make credits post-patch 20, some kinda interesting:

  • Gigs

    • This is by far the most lucrative means I've found. Find other roleplayers or even some people who aren't that are planning an event. Get some friends together as a band and offer to provide live entertainment for a flat fee. Usually a lot of the event's attendees will also tip you, so the flat fee doesn't have to be that high. Standard practice for Kett is 10k per person in the band. I once had a band at my cantina, I gave em 100k each.

  • Cantinas

    • Performing, actually performing in major cantinas, interacting with the people that do come to visit, and maintaing a positive, friendly attitude attracts tips better than anything else I have found. This usually is the key to enjoying yourself while there as well. I can, on average, net 20-50k credits in one stint at Theed cantina, depending on how many others are there and how many people come to visit.

  • Starport Jams

    • With inspiration buffs being our only tangiable source of usefulness to the combat community, nothing says we have to stay in the cantinas anymore, so don't. There are wonderful bandstand setups in all three of the primary cities: Theed, Coronet, Bestine. They're near the starports and begging to be used. Use them. Send a call out on your server's /ent channel for a Starport Jam and start passing around tells to other entertainers you know that are on. Passersby will tip if you're actively singing and having agood time. I have made as little as 10k and as much as 100k at these.

  • Grind Groups

    • Now that inspiration buffs work as they should, go to the popular spots for grind groups. Be sure someone in the group has at least Novice Scout and can make a camp. Even better if you have it yourself, but its not that necessary. Offer to provide inspiration buffs for the group at a flat group rate. Tell them to contact you in1 hour and 45 minutes when the buff is getting ready to wear off, or tell them you will contact them. Have the leader put you on their friend list so you can /findfriend them and go out to where they are. Have the scout set a camp, refresh the buffs for the same group rate and voila! I usually charge 5k per group member.

  • Distractions

    • A new means I kinda discovered on accident. Find a jedi who has a hunter problem. Offer to hang out with him/her. When the hunters come for the jedi, stand on the jedi's porch and sing songs. Not only does this help the jedi by giving them more chance to win since the time you "waste" means time off the hunter's injection buffs, but the hunters tip you for the performance. I have not yet thoroughly tested how this works on a regular basis, but I very literally had a hunter tip me 100k for performing while he waited on the jedi.

Also, for anyone who needs fast cash, look on the bazaar for ship components. Look at their level, and multiply it by 1000. That is how much a Chassis Dealer will give you for them. I think Level 10 loot is still bugged, it pays 1000 credits instead of 10,000 - but Levels 1 through 9 work fine.

Sometimes you can find, for example, a level 4 item that's really cheap...let's say 2500. Sell it to the chassis dealer and make 1500 credits just to run over to the starport.

You can make quite a few 100k of credits doing this on a regular basis.

While I make a lot of credits performing atthe cantinas, in front ofTheed starport and at events(well over1 mil a week), sploitin the bazaar with my l33t shopping skillz is my favorite non-entertainer hobby. I have a few vendors in a rather out of the way but high traffic location (next to the shuttleport closest to the Krayt Graveyard). They get a lot of traffic from players hanging around awaiting their friends or looking for a group. I sell furniture and clothing made by my crafter, decor items at a markup over what I've purchased them for on the bazaar and food, spice and meds that I've bought at lower prices from others. When purchasing from an individual for resell, I'm always careful to make it very clear that I will be marking the items above what they've sold to me for. Many players have been more than happy to give me steep discounts for volume purchases. It is good business as I have a high turnaround due to location (and a surprising lack of vendors in the area) and if the item's creator has marked it with their name, it's good advertisement for them.

Oh, as for non-entertainer means of making credits, I use my crafting alt. He's a Master Shipwright that tends to see a lot of business. I price things at what I call "ent prices" and I don't advertise, I use word of mouth.I do custom builds on ships. My blueprints and componentsare on vendors that are searchable. The shop is near the shuttleport in a well known player city. It gets its own business and over time that's how I earn money.

I used to sell vehicles, and that was pretty profitable, but I gave that vendor to a friend and guildmate since he lives in the same city, no point us competing. His vendor is in my shop where mine used to be, so he gets decent traffic.

Wow... blue rug adhesive for 5k? That's a steal. I would bet you could find the the dye for under 40k, the patches for 20k or so.. and the individual threads for 1 to 5k each... Make the rug, and then sell it for 2 mil.

I haven't really been tracking my dancer income lately... My money has been coming from selling clothes on the bazaar.
