Thread: I'm sure you'll call this a silly question ...

... but I can't find the answer anywhere in your FAQ.

How do you perform an inspiration buff? For someone who is new to the profession its hard to get a straight answer in your FAQs ... all you say is that you do it like the old mind buffs ... well how the hell did you do the old mind buffs?!

Isn't a FAQ meant to be written to newbies, not to old members of the profession?

You perform inspiration buffs by dancing. A patron will startto be buffed once he or she starts watching you.

The guide was written before the CU was live. There are only 3 points on "what's different." All the rest talks about what affects the speed that you apply a buff, but those modifiers have even changed name since then. *shrug* I'm sorry if it threw you off to have older info there, but it is an old guide.

I'm sure someone will write a new one when the new buffs come out, but what we have right now isn't very complicated honestly. Maybe just a new general newbie guide would be a good idea? The last one I did like that got a lot of mixed reviews so I haven't tried one since then, but maybe I'll try to do a really basic one just for new levelers.

Anyway, yeah, the simple answer for "how to inspire" is just to dance until the person watching you is told by the system message that their buff has reached maximum.

As above stated, with our current Inspiration, you simply dance.A performerdoesn't have to perform flourishes or do anything special for the Inspiration to be applied. All the patron getting the Inspiration has to do is /watch a dancer or /listen to a musician.

A FAQ is intended to address Frequently Asked Questions that are brought to the forum. It is not designed to address any particular audience group. Once our new Inspirations are put into place, I will be finishing an article that will be a better "beginner's guide" than what is currently available. However, considering our profession isin the midst of reconstruction, I won't becompleting that document until I can be relativelysure the datawill be correct for a while.

Ouch, Eshie! *sobs* Sure, kick the old crusty glowie's guide. *strikes tragic pose*

*coughs* Anyway, I almost said this in an earlier thread too when the FAQ was mentioned, but this is the first real FAQ we've ever had. Eshie did a real FAQ, it's honestly what's asked in here the most. In the past, we've just had a collection of popular and useful links... and we haven't even always had one of those.

I think this FAQ is good, a lot of the guides it links to are a little dated like it says, but we are in a transition phase so I think that's kinda just how it has to be for now.

Nah..what I said was not specifically in reference to the Inspirations Guide but we've been needing a general guide written toward the players just starting out for quite some time now. I've got oneover 90% complete and it's just waiting for the rest of our new reality to fall into place before I can finish & post it. I just think it would be a big mistake to post it with incomplete or incorrect data and at a date which would imply that it was current information for someone who might be reading it a month or two from now.
