Thread: Whither redux
There used to be a weekly gathering at the Gypsy village, where entertainers would get together and party for a few hours. If I were to start up something similar, would there be any interest in it? I was thinking Tuesday evenings, because I'm usually free then.
I had the notion of getting a stage and audience seating from an event promoter, and putting them down somewhere in the valley outside Mos Eisley. Someplace not in the way, but within sight so that it might attract the curious. Although the gypsy parties were fun, there was no chance of attracting an audience out in the Corellian boonies.
We could even do inspiration buffs if asked. All it takes is one entertainer with Novice Scout to drop a camp.
Would anyone be interested?

I don't log onto Bria much any more since most folks I know are gone
Bria has had a huge exodus of talent in the last few months. Mainly because the server hasthe reputation of being filled with nasty, power gaming players. And I agree, Bria has more nasty players than usual. But I believe that is because we are much larger, and have more examples of every type of player--both good and bad.
I still enjoy Bria, for all its faults, and I am still there. I admit I don't log on as much as I used to.
I'd like to do a tour of the venues. Perhaps we could even post our schedule on the Bria boards.

Sirii, I like that venues tour idea. If enough people posted when and where they traveled, maybe those "loose cannon" entertainers could find people to entertain with in exotic locals? er...something...head not working...I think you know what I mean.
I think you meant "exotic locales".
I would be up for anything that brings entertainers together again. I'm leery of using existing venues, though, because right now they're all either completely abandoned or stuffed to the gills with AFKers. Last time I wnet into the Theed or Mos Eisley cantinas, both were so packed there was barely room to stand--certainly not enough space for any kind of coordinated group performance. Plus there's the lag from all those zombies and their macrospam. That's why I was thinking of creating a new venue outside, using the event coord items.

I think the game is just attracting the nasty powergaming uberleets more now than it used to with the whole Jedi-BH obsession the devs and players all seem to be on now... I don't think it is just Bria.

I agree with you, the Chimaera community isn't what it was either. Just getting a group to level up in is hard, the power grinders want spin groups and nothing less than CL50, making it hard for new players to level up. There are a few decent players who will make up groups with lower levels, but not many.
I know the CU is here to stay and I know we all have to get over it, a lot of it I like even, but it has harmed a lot of the things that were good about this game.

/agree My poor guild. I miss how it used to be.
Well anything to get entertainer back on the map of Fun things to do in SWG. If all people are being told by the game is that AFK and begging is the way to go then our beloved professions are going to feel the crunch....hard. Entertainer was never designed to be AFKed. Yes it happened and for good reasons (at least to some) but much of what was entertainer was destroyed by those who blatantly AFKed. When I started the game the only thing that saved be from quiting was another group of dedicated performers. I didn't start with friends, but a well established guild named FX got me stuck. We're on Bria and have had the same reduction that was mentioned, mostly from budget problems and time constrants that prevent us from logging on.
However, if we started making "bands" and dance troups, going to these, um, locales (hehehe) people will again notice us and we might even see a rise again in people being entertainers. For example: The Kreetles. They post on here when and where they are going to be. Too bad no one thought of something like this before, and if anyone did it was not implemented to the extent that AFKers were nothing but a joke. I congratulate The Kreetles on their work (even though I've yet to see them) and hope they continue to give performances for a long time.
Also the bands and dance troups cause more visibility than on person entertaining alone. I think that the CU and losing our buffs has actually had a good effect in this area. My guild itself is trying to create a band as well.
Even if we don't get buffs or anything, there will never be anything more relaxing in this game than being able to sit back and enjoy a well designed show.
