Thread: Player Theater... don't buy it!

Ok, I travelled to see one last night. I had grand dreams of the Shayde Memorial Theater. (It can be MEMORIAL... I've died like 50 times)

Save your cash. Why?

1. They are SMALL. Tiny really. Better room in a player cantina.
2. They are stark. No decorations to speak of.
3. They have NO chairs.
4. The stage is just TINY.
5. You CANNOT drop a Nargalon or Omni Box and play it on the stage.
6. STILL no micstands. Come on people... Can an Agent get a Mic Stand???

After being impressed by the player cantina and the other player city improvements, I can see they cut the corner on this one. ESPECIALLY when you see ampitheaters like the one on Verindi Island, or the nice hall in Dejarik.

Its the same model on all planets, just different gfx for it. As i wrote in this thread on the musician board, it lacks the best part which is: You cant cure/buff people from the stage as its similar to the rooftop of a normal player house.

I could have told you it would be like that. That's all been known since it was on test.

Well it takes up only 3 lots instead of the 5 the cantina takes, but oddly maint is the same rate. Anyways it at least has a backroom for storage, so I placed one in our city and took down my small I was using for my clothes. LOL Yes it does seem small but we are planning on using it for ceremonies and other interesting roleplaying things. It is truly up to the city and the person willing to drop it to decide if they are worth it. I figured I already run the cantina so why not the theatre too? Friday we have a wedding in the theatre, then reception in the cantina so I am excited to have these structures to use!

Yeah, you can find limited uses for it...
But when you look at theaters in Virendi Island and Dejaric... you see their potential! At VERY least, these should be TWICE their size. We could hardly get a Wook to stnad on that stage!

hmm, I kind of like it.

As for healing...that's not what I'd call the most important aspect of a theatre. In fact I'm kind of glad they put in a building with more of an RP factor than anything else.

All these bad aspects have been known since it was in beta and almost everyone knows about the healing and stage issues. They'll be fixed as soon as the devs can do it. Personally I love the Theaters.. I love the setting and feel to them.. I think their really gorgeous too, the naboo one is at least. Sure they're a little small but still big enough to work with, the size hasn't slowed us down using them so far. I think its awesome having an outdoor venue like that, it feels like one of those outdoor Shakespear theaters I use to love going to.

All player placed city structures have to be decorated. I think it allows for differentiation between cities and really like it.

I placed my city's theatre this weekend, and I love it. It's a gorgeous location for guild events.

Hey, everybody.

I agree, the theatres look very nice. I'm excited about their potential, but I think they could use some work.

I've started a thread on the general discussion board regarding theatre improvements. If you're interested in contributing (or just seeing what I have to say, or to flame me, whatever), follow the link in my signature!
