The best single way I have found to increase xp is to group. The more people in your group, the better. Do your best dance.
Play with the timing some, too.........take advantage of that xp decay. I honestly don't know how to max out your xp on that one, because I try hard not to watch my xp bar. (Saves me a lot of personal frustration)
If you can, trade buffs with a doctor -- buff their mind in exchange for them buffing your action stats. It won't increase your xp but it will help increase the amount of time you can dance.................which indirectly increases your xp.
But..............GROUP! Group well and group often!
That's my two credits.
Everyone has to salute you when you enter the room! Actually, being the leader can either be fun or a pain, depending on your personality type. The benefit is that you choose who can enter the group. The responsibility is that you're always at the keyboard. If you have to go afk for more than a few minutes, you need to pass the leadership to someone else. While it does vary by cantina, entertainers come and go all the time, so it's important to be able to get them in the group when they pop in. There are few things (well..okay, there are plenty) so irritating as arriving at a cantina only to find two people at the keyboard, neither of which is the leader. I usually just get on a shuttle and go elsewhere.
Leaders also sometimes have the responsibility of splitting tips, if it's a big group. Some patrons prefer to just give one lump sum to the leader and have her/him do the math. That hasn't occurred to me too many times, but it's one of the issues. Of course, a really good leader will organize the troup so they at least look presentable. There aren't always choreographed numbers, but it certainly looks better if the people doing the same dances are symmetrically placed in a line.
As far as coded benefits, there really aren't any, but hey, it's not about the code. It's about the sequinned hat. I did mention the sequinned hat, didn't I?
I've leveled a LOT of dancers and this is the secret formule to leveling one at just the right rate.
1. Concentrate on your perofrmance and NEVER have the XP monitor on your screen
2. Group with people you enjoy not some 20 man macro machine
3. Don't dance your highest dance if you hate it just because it nets more exp per pulse
A novice entertainer dancing basic and rhythmyc is a blast to play if you get into the fun of dancing. Basic and Rhythmyc alone are more then any other game has ever had to offer in the past so there is no hurry to get leveled up there is a whole world to discover in these two dances alone. There is also a hidden secret in this advice that will net you 40-60% more EXP then flourishing twice per 10 seconds. Trust me on this and I'm no the only one who says it, If you do not enjoy your dancer now you will not enjoy it at master becase Exotic 4 is still dancing, it's what we do ![]()

Sigh.
I wonder if I used this secret method without knowing that I was doing it?
Maybe that is how I was able to master dancer in only 90 days.
Heh.
Hear, hear. I avoided poplock at all costs, both times around. OK well I did it for fun and silliness (it's a cute dance, and with the right clothes it has some moments!), but I didn't force myself to do it until the box was full, and I didn't seem to suffer from it.
I think the point here is, if you're doing something you enjoy, you will naturally do it better. And better dancing = more xp without thinking about how to get the best xp.

Since the last publish, dancers who "base dance" without flourishing are slowly (very very slowly) regenerating their action bar. If you flourish like a fiend, you will get a lot of XP quickly, but then you will have to sit and not dance for a few minutes to regen the action bar. On the other hand if you only flourish say twice a minute, and base dance the other 4 "ticks", you will probably never (or rarely ever) have to sit down and rest. So you will get less xp per flourish for "base dancing" 2/3 of the time, BUT, you will never have to sit down getting zero XP for it. So, if you want to maximize XP gain, you will have to play around, but my guess is, you will not want to do flourish-flourish-flourish. That said, I had already completed my final tech and knowledge boxes before the last publish and so I haven't paid attention to the XP at all with the new base dance action costs.
In any case, though, double flourishing works for music, but it does zero in dance, so you may as well not bother. Also, doing double flourishes in 10 seconds will not work at all for some dances because most dance flourishes last 12-15 seconds, and the formal and lyrical ones last 20 seconds or more. So if you hit flourish-flourish, wait 10 seconds, and hit flourish-flourish again, all you've done is backed up the flourish queue for 70+ seconds on the formal dance. In music, however, each flourish lasts 4-6 seconds or so, so a flourish every 5 (or 2 every 10) is just about right. So what works for one profession is not exaclty identical to what works for the other.
