Thread: Can you point me in the direction of this answer?

I've seen a lot of discussion on *how* to get bonuses in clothing -- been scanning the BE, Tailor, AND Game Guide boards today -- but what I can't seem to find is an explanation of how the bonuses work.

If I were to have +25 to Wound Healing, what exactly does that do? I've come up a few potential answers, but I'm not sure if any of them are the right answer, and I can't seem to find an answer.

Is it a 25% bonus to the stat? It's not like I can say "OK I haveX in Wound Healing, so now I have an effective skill of (X+25)."

And if it isn't a percentage bonus, what is it? And what is the practical effect on my healing? I'm having problems understanding the whole concept. (And I just picked 25 because that seems to be the cap.)

If anyone can provide a link or site to search, I'm happy to go there and look and repost what I find over here.

Thanks!

This isa flat bonus to a stat. That's why they're awesome .

Thanks Soulforger................... at least part 1 is answered.

But how is the stat measured? All I know is that the cap is +25, but what if behind the HUD the skill is measured in thousands? Do you see why I'm confused?

If the skills in this game were level based, I could say "OK I have 50 points in dance healing, so +25 gives me 75 dance, woo!" But it doesn't work that way, so I have no idea how +25 to (insert stat here) is really beneficial. I could just blindly say "Well 25 is the most I can add, so I'm adding that" and just accept it, but I'm trying to figure out what that does exactly.

That's part two of my issue...........

Ok, I'll make this really easy...

See those stat mods on the left side of your skill screen. Those are what you normally have as you are trained now.

Now, you have a dancer's wound healing of +10, or +20 or whatever it is. It increases every time that you train in entertainment healing or dancer's wound healing. The higher you train, the faster you heal mind wounds.

Ok, now let's say you put on a skirt that has +25 dancer's wound healing. Now your stat mod is +25 *points* (not percentage) to whatever it was before (and it should appear on your control-S skills sidebar). If you had trained your wound healing up to +20, and you put on the skirt, it's 20+25= 45. This means you heal mind wounds faster. It's like you trained your mind wound healing up to that level - but you didn't. Thisenables slackers like me to invest points in the swishy wiggly dance rather than in faster mind wound healing.

Does that clear it up?

[As a side note you only get +25 TOTAL BONUS counted for the entire outfit - so if you put on a +25 shirt and a +25 skirt, that's still only +25. Your skill mods will read +50 but that's a bug.]

Yes it does, and I thank you. Of course, I have no idea what that +20 skill mod does anyway (the one on the left side) but at least I know now where to look to figure out what it is. And I'm assuming plusses are, well, plusses. LOL More skill is good.

Sorry to sound like such a noob, but thanks to you both for helping me clear it up!
