Thread: If you had limited points, which dancer lines would you train in, and why? (not holo grinder)

I have enough points left to get novice dancer, and 2 full lines, or some mixture of lines. I was thinking dance knowledge and dance techniques, for the mind buffs and exotic dance (rawr), or possibly giving up one skill box in dance techniques for a bump in battle fatigue healing (wound healing I will probably use BE tissues for).

Any suggestions? I know I would be more "useful" if I didn't get DK4, but I soooo want exotic, I was at DK2 (Poplock 2, doing the moonwalk, /emote grabs crotch and screams "EEEOOO" like Michael Jackson) when I had to drop dance for merchanting (so bitter) but now I have my points back (whooo) and want to do the wiggly-swishy dance ... as a showcase to my tailored goods, uhh, purely professional reasons... (at last, an excuse to wear that leotard, bwahahahah)

In an unrelated question (and pardon me if this has been asked a MILLION times before) can you/ how do you mind buff yourself? I'm an image designer and that would be a huge help for me.

Thank you.

At the moment you cannot buff yourself. It seems to be a bit difficult to implement, so I wouldn't count on it in the near future.

Get Knowledge 4 for exotic. If you want to buff people for 75%, get Techniques 4. If you don't need master, don't take other skills in dancer. It just speeds up the healing, and it's fast enough as it is at novice. Who cares if you need 3 minutes or 5 minutes to heal him. Invest the points in something more useful to you directly

Knowledge and technique if you can take 2 full trees. Even at novice dancer you already heal at a decent rate.

And no, you can't buff yourself, but musician buffs are better for ID. Get your focus over 1500 and do unlimited changes for no mind.

I think your plan sounds good. Just getting knowledge and techniques and maybe just investing in some bio-engineered clothes to up your healing ability.

Exotic2 is a good dance, man, and it looks rad with the smokebombs. I think it'll totally be worth your skill points.

I have to agree with the others. Your plan is pretty solid. I myself am a 4-0-0-0. I have the pretty lights I need (and as a bonus, I have a 75% buff), and I'm pretty happy with Popular1. I wouldn't mind having those other dances, but it doesn't fit my scheme, unfortunately. I envy you having two full lines of Dancer available to you.

But yeah, don't worry about the healing skills. Novice Dancer is good enough. People don't notice healing speeds too much unless they're comparing it to Novice Entertainer. Even with my skills, people still tell me, "Wow, you're fast." Unless they pay close attention, they won't notice the increased healing.

You are an entertainer after all, and which skills help you with entertaining? Technique and Knowledge, baby. Go for the gold!

I agree with the consensus. Tech and Knoweldge if you can only do 2. You will heal fast enough as a Novice Dancer.

Yep, knowledge and techniques. Knowledge for Exotic2, which is lovely, and then techniques for the purty lights and the buffs. You'll heal at a fine rate even without the healing trees.

Exotic 1, Exotic 2, 3 and 4, I'm so confused - probably I'll just know why one is preferred over the other when I see it.

Go knowledge first, then tech, right?

Knowledge first, because exp comes faster when you have Knowledge IV.

Lemme run through the exotics:

Exotic1: Clunky and awkward basic animation, same flourishes as... (Knowledge IV)

Exotic2: Clean, smooth basic animation. The one you usually see people doing. Hands move in a sort of circular motion. (Knowledge IV)

Exotic3: Similar to Exotic2, but the dancer spins and the arms move a bit more. Flourishes have a belly-dancer sort of quality, with bobbing and arms above head. (Master Dancer)

Exotic4: My friends call this the 'wavy tree'. Arms are above the head and swish around. Flourishes are similar to Exotic3, but with more spinning and mixed levels. (Master Dancer)

You can be perfectly happy with Exotic2. Exotic4 is my favorite, but for the exotic effect you only need 2.

With lyrical, only use the first four flourishes. Try to time them so you get one going as soon as another ends. That'll minimize the stutter.

It's a shame that lyrical and formal are bugged, they're so pretty.

I originally stopped at two trees, and went knowledge and mind healing. But this was before buffs went into effect and we got the bonuses in the technique line. Now that I'm master, if I decided to go back to two trees I would keep knowledge and techniques. Exotic2 is probably the best thing to go for. It keeps you in one place and looks great. Technique gives you a nice way to make some dough and is useful to your friends and your PA.

AHHH WIGGLYDANCE!!!

Now I see why exotic 1 isn't used - it doesn't really flow... I was a bit disappointed with the flourishes on exotic 2 - flourishes 4-8 are more "jiggly" than "slithery". But the dance looks so cool without flourishes, that it doesn't matter.

Now for my twinkly lights!

I *need* exotic 2!!! With lyrical I'm all over the place, and look pretty dazed and confused. Some of the flourishes are pretty cool, but sometimes a "popular2" flourish sneaks in there and it's very strange.
