Thread: A noob asks a shamefully simple question

I am a Novice Entertainer - very low down - but beginning my career as a dancer.

How do I - or how will I eventually be able to - buff people?

Can someone tell me please or point me in the direction of a very simple link?

I have looked at the FAQ but it doesn't cover this very, very basic question.

The buffing skill (Dancer's Mind Enhancement) is gained from Novice Dancer upwards. Your score on the skill is the percentage you'll buff the customer's mind. I think it's about 15 or 20 at novice. The skill is increased by going up the technique branch, 75 at the top of the branch and finally 100 at master.

How to buff, in the simplest form you /setperform at a clientorwho you'regrouped with them while they're watching you. Next do 120 flourishes, most is 5 every 8 seconds, they don't all animate. Once you've done that the client /stopwatch 'es and they then receive the buff. There's other things to consider in buffing but as long as you do 120 flourishes it should always give the full 2 hour buff.

Sorry, an additional question:

Doe effects like 'Smokebomb' and ''Spotlight' add anything to the buff?

No, all the effects to is make a pretty show (or blind the patrons if overdone! ) and eat up action. It is confusing because they are the noticable perks of going up the tech branch.

Nope. The flashy bits just look good.

And they are very useful in making flashy shows. 3 people playing the Mandoviol all doing a firejet at the same time looks really really cool.

And Smoke and Distract work wonderful for quick changes of clothing.

Another question, if you would be so good. Should I buy a Bot with dancer modules? If so, which modules and how does it help?

The modules look cool but don't do anything that special. They're just additional effects (unlike musician ones which can fill in missing instruments). I would get a droid with 6 modules, 1 module for each effect, and then just program in the ones you like. You can set the droid to patrol the room and spit out effects at regular intervals (so you don't dance on top of a droid which looks weird).
