I have to admit, after joining a new guild with a live dancer that I find it enjoyable to interact a bit while getting buffed, and also to interact with my fellow customers. I'm also buffing pretty much exclusively atk with my musician and find that it's not interfering at all with the other things I like to do.
I now understand the important role entertainers play in the game.
And for the record, I ALWAYS tip.

I'm very happy to hear you've found a new enjoyment of the game and the profession. If the pod people try to bring back the old VK, please tell them to just go away.
