This is really more of a tailor question than a dancer one, but being both I will give you my recipe for a tux outfit. Start with the suit shirt probably in white and probably black for the neck area/tie. For a jacket you have a couple of choices. There is either the cold weather jacket which is fairly long and open in front, or another option is the gunman's duster which is full body and gives the ensemble a slightly different look. Either one in black (but be careful with the cold weather jacket, as the shoulder area is extra dark - I usually use one color less than black for a more uniform color). For pants there are again two options. There are dress slacks which are designed to be formal pants, but many people don't like the cuffs on the legs because they don't go down quite far enough. I personally am not thrilled with the little extra bulge around the knees (not sure what that's about). The more popular option is the casual pants which include a belt and have a little extra length on the cuffs. Again either one in black. Then finish the outfit off with some black dress shoes, and white gloves (possibly black if you prefer) in your favorite style (leather, tipless, whatever - I notice little difference in the look of the gloves). There you have it - a basic tux outfit.

Come to think of it, for the pants you could use striped slacks as well, coloring both the pants and the stripe black. That might be even better.

Yup..the stripe of the striped slacks is just enough off in hue to resemble the sheen of the stripe on tux slacks (at least to my vivid imagination).
The Pilot's Jacket and Rugged Jacket aren't bad for something a little shorter.
