Thread: New Dancer Improvement Idea

Iam an ex-dancer, However i am re-mastering it on an alt so it had me thinking creativly lately.

Weve been going through some proffession revamps, Image Design has just recently had their turn, (and a great improvement too).

And it had me thinking about how little Dancers really offer now, the Devs are adding all proffession to be a usefull part of the game, And i had an idea that may be nice for Dancers (and Musicians).

My suggestion is to expand the 'buff' line that we are capable and have various different types of buffs, and link them to specific dances (maybe have them not stack also, i dunno)

having lots of nice effects. These would all work in the same way as a mind buff, watch for 10 mins, get a 2hr buff(or something along those lines)

Things like;

Bonus to crafting? (what crafter wouldnt work better while listening to music !)

Bonus to Combat Range buff (after all dancers are easy on the eyes , and it could also bring ranged proffessions in balance with combat medics without bringing dancers into combat themselves)

Actually those are the only ones i thought of so far, maybe include ones such as image design speed decreasing buff, im sure there is lots of possibilities

I seriously think us dancers need a lil revamping on the prof....being a Theed cantina veteran on the shadowfire serve heehee I have heard many conversations on how the dancers should be able to give different tyoes of buffs and such so I am glad you brought this up...we dancers need a lil change.... and LIVE DANCERS UNITE!!!!

I've often wondered this whenever I go into a theatre, which is ALWAYS empty. I think thatBuffs should only be allowed in theatres. Other players wanting the Buff whould have to pay an admission fee to the theatre where a percentage would go towards the dancer or musician. The show could start like every half hour so that would create a large group to watch the show. I think the theatresare not usedoften and this could be a way to bring more guest in.

I really enjoy this idea.

It is a very very interesting idea.

I would be behind the idea to expand the dancer/musician buff line... crafting bonus, ranged bonus, etc...

I try to dance in the other venues as often as possible. When I have a group who contacts me for buff or healing, I usually rangle them to a more private location, like the theatre.

There's only been a few times when "skill buffs" have come up in threads here & I'm totally in favor of it. I was half hoping there would be changes like this for us with the combat rebalance.

I thought about something along these lines, but then I said to myself, "what if the 'broken dances' give the buffs everyone wants?" See, its hard enough today to be able to do something unique and creative with regard to cantina things.

Audiences who watch me for a buff tend to get kind of short with me if I'm not dancing my highest dance. I guess the 20 seconds more to see a dance that corresponds to the music is too much time for them to bear or something.

I like to mix a lot of styles together in my routines. Indeed, sometimes I have to switch over to a travelling flourish to get to where I need to be on the cantina floor. That kind of versatility will be hampered by something like this, because the mechanicslimits what sort of tools we have at our disposal.

I am liking and seeing the value more and more in the simple, elegant design of these professions. The only real problems we have as a class now stem from the fact that SOE can't distinguish an automated unattended character from a real player. Fix that, and I'd be content. Do other things, like expand the types of mechanics we can give, and not fix that, and we'll still have the same problems...if not new and greater ones.

I like the idea of buffing peoples skills too. Allows us to give bonuses to non-combat professions. I recently started my first crafter and noticed she never gets mind wounds... she never gets bf... she never wants a buff... it is possible for her to become a complete hermit lol. The only thing I would wonder is what the chefs may think of it - they already have several skill buffing foods. Do they feel this belongs to them? (have never been a chef myself)

For some reason..that statement *points up* made me smile. *giggles*

What would be really neat is if tailors could get a buff from a dancer/musician ( I think they should be given the same "buffage" ability across the board) that would increase SOCKETS!

I have been asad panda since they made getting four sockets (even for master) random...and it seems nothing really improvesit (skill tapes, research centers, crafting stations, force sense, food/beverage etc.).

I know I would gladly get this buff if they made it...plus it would give us another interdependency thing in the community.

Maybe if we could look at the things BE's/Chefs use, getting stuffies they don't use or making our stuffies stack...sort of like how doctor buffs work in conjunction with food/drink now?

Again..I would certainly use this!

A lot of those chef foods are or were broken.

My Chef character makes a wide variety of foods, but the 'buff' foods don't really sell.Havla andBivoli seem to do okay as far as the buff foods.

The Chefs still have a lot of foods to choose from. Giving entertainers the ability to buff some 'extra stuff' wouldn't, in my opinion, take away from their practice. Chefs can make Blue Milk which heals mind wounds, and people buy it for those times when they can't find an entertainer. They can make foods to enhance the exact same attributes as BE clothing.

The devs would have to fix a lot of stuff before this whole plan could be implimented, but I think it is worthy of consideration by the powers that be

I hope we never get this. I sincerely hope we never ever get anything remotely like this. If you think buffbots are bad now, wait until they can do 8 different types of buffs....

Any suggestion I make I am making to possibly improve on entertainers...as I hope most here are doing. I think most of these are made taking into account the promise of the devs to do something about the abuse of macros and unattended gameplay.

I for one am thinking of a bot/zombie free world when I list any and all enhancements to the entertainer classes.

But you are right Electro, and thanks for the reminder ....I want no bots to be able to give anysuggestedbuff ever, really soon. Hopefully this "want" will become a reality.
